I always stay at the HGI at 7830 S Las Vegas Blvd. Typical HGI but good service. I go 2-3 times a year and the breakfast servers always remember me. Internet sucks though. Slightly < 1 MBs speed. I just log in with my Diamond credentials. My company has it logistics and education centers there.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "decent". Do you mean "reasonably clean, reasonable service, low priced, just going to stay there to sleep?"

If so, I dare say any Hilton-branded property will fit the bill. I've stayed at the Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn near LAS. They were fine. I've also stayed at Elara and SLS. They were also fine as far as that goes. For that matter, I stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton when it was a Hilton, and even though it was well into it's dotage as a Hilton property, it was "decent" (I rather liked the pool, it had a Palm Springs vibe to it).

In my opinion, the best properties in Vegas are NOT the Hilton/Hyatt/etc. branded ones, and as such, limiting yourself to a particular brand may exclude you from a lot of the "Vegas Experience" (or at least means you need to drive or take a cab to your show/dinner/what have you, deal with parking, etc.)... but maybe that's what you want? It's hard to draw much of a conclusion from "decent".

Also, to go along with the suggestions of looking at the HH forum's property threads for Vegas...

Vegas is one town I avoid Hilton properties. There are just too many good options and none of them are Hilton properties.

I've stayed at Elara and a few other Hilton properties on the strip and there are just better options.

My favorite is the Mandarin, but you can't go wrong with some of the other big hotels on the strip. Just my 2 cents.

Unless you don't want to stay on the Strip (which I don't). In which case, Hilton has some great options for my purposes.

Which is kind of why figuring out what "decent" means is important here- head in a clean bed with a shower and solid service at a good price, plus not having to deal with the Strip, and that's it? Basically something you could and should be able get in Phoenix or any American Southwest city if the property does the chain standards for HGI/Homewood Suites/Hampton Inn/Embassy Suites well? In that case... yeah, I'd have to agree (I've used Hampton Inns as luggage storage/crash space in Vegas when I don't want to deal with the crowds in a casino, the endless walks to parking, the resort fees, and basically slept, changed clothes and showered there).

Or is the room and property (restaurants, shows, pool) part of the experience? In that case, don't bother with ANY of the chains.

I prefer to stay at hgvc either on the strip or convention center. Strip charges for parking and is usually a bit more expensive. Nice non gaming hotels.

I think all hotels in Vegas are just meh, nothing special.

Hopefully the OP will have a great trip, sounds wonderful.
Normally I'd agree with you but the Vegas threads in the HHonors forum are some of the more active.

However, OP has gotten some good feedback here as well.

To the OP:

I've also heard good things about the Embassy Suites that is just off the strip, I haven't stayed there myself but it got some good remarks in the Elara thread.

Personally I really like the Elara, it's close to a mall, close to the strip, if you do want to hit up the strip and has pretty nice rooms.

Like some others have mentioned above Vegas also has a ton of other good hotels if you do want to stay on the strip...however it sounds like you aren't really into Casinos so maybe the Hilton choices are perfect for you.

I've stayed at both Embassy Suites and give the one near the convention center a sight edge and also stayed at the SLS. ES have made to order breakfast and happy hour, SLS has $20 credit at cafe for Diamonds (and registered guests in the same room. Only problem with SLS is they seem to have some glitches in awarding credit for stay). These are my top 3 choices when go to Vegas. Probably only Hilton property in Vegas I'd avoid would be the Trop but it sounds like their days are numbered.

Any Hilton hotels have free lunch in Las Vegas?

Is there a Hilton hotel in Las Vegas that offers free lunch for GOLD tier customers? I know that sometimes a lounge may have snacks and hot foods for midday/lunch, wondering if there's something like that in the area.

No, complimentary lunch is not a feature of the Honors scheme. Golds get complimentary breakfasts at Doubletrees and Hilton Garden Inns if they set their MyWay Benefits to that option. Breakfast included at Embassy Suites, Hamptons and Homewood Suites. None of the Hilton brands in Vegas have an Exec Lounge.

Golds don't even get breakfast in the Vegas Doubletree. Of course you get a room credit that only covers coffee plus a tip.

The smart move is to go to the top floors and wander the halls snacking from the food trays outside of room doors

I think I have only seen lunch at one hotel lounge out of 300-400 lounges I've visited across the different chains. (Sandwiches at an Intercontinental in Asia)

Definitely not going to happen in Vegas - you're lucky enough to get breakfast. Besides, I always take advantage of the rare opportunity to get some In n Out...

Is there a region that often provides "free lunch" for Gold members?

Never heard of this in a hotel... ever, anywhere.

RCs generally have five food presentations per day in their lounges (which aren't free for elites), including a light lunch. My most recent experience was the RC in Hong Kong, where the offerings were as follows: breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea, appetizers and happy hour drinks, desserts and after dinner drinks.
