Because of all the night workers, the Cathedral has an indult to offer a Saturday "evening" (afternoon) "vigil Mass" (fulfils Sunday obligation) at 2:30 p.m., one of the earliest Masses in the world.
Guardian Angel Cathedral, Las Vegas, NV Las Vegas, NV Home
Conversely, if you want to attend after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday itself, you'll have to find another parish.

SPN Lifer Not sure that FT is the place to promote a church! I'm sure if someone is interested in attending a religious service while in any city they will familiarize themselves with the alternatives for their respective religion.

I mentioned that the hotel location will be across the street from the Peppermill restaurant. Did you think I was promoting that establishment just because I mentioned it?

Right - the North End has been a historical no-man's land, no matter what they try, anything past Wynn just seems to suck wind. I stayed in the Hilton's "SLS" when it first opened, loved it, but... felt like I was in Egypt (figuratively, not the Luxor one ).
If you want to go to the epicenter of Vegas Strip, that'll always be those darn Bellagio fountains.
Like you mentioned, I'd read an article last year about the former/bankrupt Fontainebleau getting bought and renamed The Drew Las Vegas (opening 2022), with "The Edition" brand hotel and the Strip's first JW Marriott. If they get enough movement from both Hilton and Marriott putting high end money into big skyscraper properties, this could be the first real chance for a seismic shift to make a second center to the Strip.
They're going to need some draw other than just big hotels though. Can't just do more fountains... flaming volcano is old hat, pirate boat came and went... Dunno. But that's the challenge to not make this just a separate island of high rent hotels with no reason to BE up that far. You're getting closer to the old Strip, which has had a lot of cool new revival (Container Park is neat, Fremont Street has woken up, etc.)

Hi,
Yes, I loved the Container park when I was last there in 2018 ( going back in April) after visiting the Old Mormon Fort, the Natural History Museum and the Neon Museum ( have not been to the Mob museum yet). Had an icream and relaxed before going back to Fremont street and the bus back down the strip.
Be interesting to see what happens to the North strip over the next few years
Regards

I remember going by that 88-acre monstrosity while at CES, didn't realize until today that Hilton will be operating the hotels. It might invigorate the north end, which I only see coming out of Westgate. Even when in the Convention Center, I usually choose to exit thru the Venetian. I suppose with seven pools and new restaurants, some buzz will be generated, but I usually choose to be more central, at Cosmopolitan if choosing Bonvoy or WA for hhonors.

If you had written three sentences talking about the delicious cocktails at Peppermill, a link to their website, and a listing of their operating hours, that would be considered a promotion too.

They need to do a better job with transportation to tie it together with the rest of the strip. The monorail turns around the golf course near the Wynn and becomes too far to realistically walk to the strip.

Very exciting news but I'm a bit confused on the branding aspect. I'm pretty sure the property is going to just have one 59 story tower for hotel rooms. Three different Hilton brands (Conrad, Hilton, LXR) within one tower? But then the entire property will keep the Resorts World branding?
Also I wish they wouldn't have toned down the Asian theme that was originally planned for the property. Looked much better than the current design.

Now, if they’d have it go to the airport - now THAT would get rid of a third of all the rental cars clogging the strip just for a trip to a crowded parking lot for the weekend, and give people an option that would be popular. But I’m sure the taxi mafia and rental car people would protest to stop any development to make the system actually useful.
