Lounges open on weekends?

There's a whole sticky thread over in the Marriott forum about which lounges are open on weekends. My only weekend experience with Hilton was in Paris, and the lounge was certainly open (Tower Hilton).

Planning out a trip which will include Hiltons in Budapest, Paris, and Rome. I'm sure others might be intersted in these and the rest of the Hilton properties.

Is there a comprehensive thread regarding this matter (I searched and couldn't find one), or are the lounges open on weekends as a matter of course?

I have been a gold hhonors member for over 5 years. My experience in the US is that if the Hilton has a lounge, it is open. It is one of the reasons I prefer Hilton Hhonors over Marriott. About 95% of Marriott lounges close for the weekend. dawn

Some do and some dont.

Some Hiltons, ie. Vancouver B.C. don't have enough traffic on weekends to justify the lounge attentant. However, these hotels give coupons for an evening snack - of their choosing, at the resturaunt

My experience is exactly the opposite, ie more USA HH lounges are closed on the weekends rather than open on the weekends. Some exec lounges are open Sun evening though (Wilmington DE, Harrisburg PA etc).

The lounges at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Hungtington Beach CA and at the Hilton Walt Disney World in Florida were both open on weekends when I was there. Not surprising, given the resort locations.

I recently stayed at the Hilton Jacksonville Riverfront (FL) and the lounge was closed on the weekend. I guess it varies by market and whether they have enough leisure guests to justify it. The lounge attendant told me lately the hotel has been about 30% full Fri-Sun and 60% or more full Mon-Thu.

The 2 times I stayed at the Hilton SFO, they closed their lounge on the weekend.

Off the top of my head cant think of a Hilton that has a lounge that wasnt open weekends that I've stayed at since I was able to get lounge access. (Now if they'd only be open longer then would get to use some instead of arriving too late/leaving too early.)

Includes Hiltons in Australia, Asia, Europe and a couple in US.

Hmmm. Then what's the deal with Marriott? They seem to close their lounges on weekends pretty much everywhere.

Oh well.

When I stayed at the Denver Marriott Tech Center in July, they closed at noon on Fri. It was a surprise to me and I asked why. I was told that it was because there is no business guests on weekends. Apparently 95% of Marriott lounges close for the weekend. Some late on Fri to Sun late afternoon. The one I was at closed noon on fri til mon morning. My comment was that maybe the business guests don't stay at Marriott for that reason and stay at other hotels on weekends that do offer lounge access all the time. Their answer was that it must be ok as Marriott is #1 hotel in the world.

Apparently, they do not like the conference guests who attend on fri and sat. We are not the "right class of business travelers" I was there for the National Assoc of Family Child Care conference. Most of the attendees are small business owners and travel both for business and leisure.
