Update: Just back from our 6 night stay and yes, the Park Lane has a nice sized rooms for 3 people. We were in 1704 which a king sized bed and a chair that pulled out to a twin size bed. There was even room to move. I was told that rooms ending in 04 and 12 are the largest regular rooms.
FYI - The staff was excellent, and the lounge is one of the nicest we've experienced. I highly recommend this hotel!

Hilton - London Park Lane
Being a Hilton Honors points collector, I took advantage of one of their perks for Gold members 6 free nights at any Hilton in the world for 150,000 points. We decided to use them wisely on a hotel in one of the really expensive hotel cities. With a standard room rate of 365 per night for an executive room, we would not have stayed here otherwise. We got a largish room on the 19th floor with a small balcony facing north, overlooking Mayfair & Hyde Park. We loved it. We also got free access to the Club Room on the 26th floor; looking west over London with an incredible view. We skipped the Eye because we had this view everyday. This gave us a good free continental breakfast, free afternoon tea & snacks & free drinks & snacks in the evening. We used it everyday. The staff was excellent & the quality of food & snacks was first rate. This alone probably saved us 100 per day. We rubbed shoulders with Arabic, Indian & American businessman who seemed to haunt the Club Room.

London Hilton on Park Lane hotel Trip Reports and Reviews
Three night stay with two rooms. Using old style GLONP. I knew before leaving US that our rooms were upgraded to Executive Floor. At check-in around 9:00 AM rooms not ready. No problem. Asked for and given room on 6. These rooms are not renovated. Upon return from tourist things go to Executive Lounge to receive keys to our rooms. Non-smoke, Executive Floor and facing park.
These rooms are renovated. You can tell which ones are renovated by the room numbers on the door. If you have a room number on metal run back to the front desk. If it is on glass you scored. The rooms are completely renovated within the confines of their footprint. New carpet, looks to be new furniture, new wall furnishings and newly marbled bathrooms. Nice size and comfortable. The Lounge has a number of presentations- breakfest (continental), lunch stuff ??? (don't know about that), afternoon tea (with a good spread according to the wife), evening good stuff with free champagne and late evening (also do not know).
Upon return to room in evening given still water, bubbly water and fruits in both rooms. Internet is our of this world. 20 GBP which includes VAT to connect in room. 12 GBP per hour in Lounge. Go to Victoria Station to the Easy Internet which is nearby. 1.60 GBP per hour.
The Hotel was a pleasant surprise from our last stays. Great remodel, attentive staff, nice Lounge and perfect location. I could now recommend.

Hilton Green Park London mini report 11/11/03
I stayed here for the LHR DO. Rate was 69GBP which included VAT and English breakfest. SkiAdcock and KenjiH also stayed. My reservation was for a single. At early check-in I was just happy to get a room. Given what they said was a king deluxe non-smoke on floor 1. Room was on backside. Newly renovated, large with ok size bathroom. Had a cement patio with a tree that looked like its last days. Amenities ok. No high speed internet. A Kinkos less than 4 minutes took care of that. Thanks to KenjiH for finding it. TV had maybe 7 stations. If I was due a D amenity I never saw it. Room was very warm and I could not figure how you got air or circulation. Kinkos 3 GBP for one hour.
Restaurant and Bar was still under renovation. I could have had breakfest but did not. It was being served in the basement level. A letter from the GM warned guests on breakfest. Stated it could get crowded. Not worth the effort.
I would stay again for around the same rate. I did long for the Sheraton Park Lane (after seeing beaubo suite) and the London Hilton. The Green Park may have been renovated but a number of us agreed that the staff needed renovation. Two fellow FTs wanted to stay on Sunday evening. After going thru all the trouble they ended up walking after not getting a fair rate. More revenue for the Sheraton and another Hilton.
Mark and Spencer very close for a drink and sandwich. Also the Green Park tube station if you want the Picadilly line out to LHR. About one hour and $5 US. Close walk to everything. Never took a cab.

Thanks for the report! I'll be there late December and was wondering how the renovations were coming along. Maybe the restaurant(s) will be finished by then...

Green Park Hilton London Report - November 2003
Just back from the London Mega-Do and stayed at the Green Park Hilton, so thought Id write a report. msy-msp & rtwstaralliance were there too, so hopefully theyll add their input/update.
Arrived about noon; room not available. I argued/pleaded a lot & sat in eyesight of the front desk in the lobby w/ my luggage looking weary (being tired after the UA party plane), so they had housekeeping get my room clean within 30 minutes, which was appreciated.
Room renovations are complete, and from what I've been told they're much nicer than pre-renovation; I was told that before ugly green brocade on the walls or something equally hideous.
That's not to say rooms are plush. I think rooms are a bit on the small side but I had a corner room which is bigger (rm 209) & which I got via Gold status; they do have suites & deluxe rooms so perhaps someones status will get them that. Maybe not; I've heard mixed. Might want to call or email in advance.
They've done the rooms in a 'minimalist' (modern) style. Walls are white, furniture is 'blond' wood (hope you know what I mean). Modern pic on the wall.
Room has television; there's a keyboard in one of the drawers.
Closet had extra blankets, iron & ironing board, and an extra heater (the room was warm when I was there). Windows open, unlike most American hotels.
Lot of hangers in the closet but no skirt hangers (evidently European UK Hiltons don't think biz women travel; not unique to this hotel, so not pinging them specifically).
I had a double (their version of queen) bed. 4 big pillows. Covering was in a nice beige w/ some type of blue trim. There was also a beige ottoman. Think the singles are twin beds. Bed was comfy.
The hairdryer is in the desk - there's like a hollow in the center (flush w/ desk when closed) & when you open it up there's a mirror facing you & the hairdryer stored there). The cord could have been a bit longer, though. You really had to sit close to the desk to use it (which is probably more of a hassle for gals than guys). Also, sewing kit & drycleaning bag in the hollow.
There are 2 phones in the room; both have dial-up capabilities. There wasn't hi-speed internet that I saw.
My bathroom was a bit on the small side but had what I needed (toilet, shower/tub, sink). They give you shampoo, conditioner, bath gel in these long tubes; there are also 2 bars of soaps, body lotion & shower caps. The bathroom fan runs continuously (there's no on/off switch), so I just closed the door in the evenings so it wouldn't keep me awake when I was trying to sleep. Shower water pressure strong/good.
One thing that drove me nutsWhen people just let the doors shut when they leave the room, the springs are pretty good on these doors & they SLAM shut. When you're trying to sleep, listening to slam slam slam slam drives you up the wall. So - be nice to your neighbor & close the door gently when entering/leaving the room!!!
I thought walls were a bit thin; could hear wake-up call of room next to me & blowdryer. Floor creaked a bit in my room (beige carpeting matching the ottoman).
The bar, foyer, restaurant, etc, was still undergoing renovation & that's supposed to be complete by November 24th, so can't give you a report on that. Anyone staying there after the 24th, please update this thread, as it would be good to know for future.
My room rate included breakfast (they temporarily located the breakfast to some conference rooms on the lower level until main area renovations are done), but it being a FT MegaDo & not getting in before 4am each night, I didn't make it to breakfast. Perhaps msy-msp or rtwstaralliance made it & can post.
You do get a daily newspaper. And they have lots of newspapers in the lobby to read.
24-hour room service. Also, I think they might have an agreement w/ a health club but I didnt look at it closely. The park is very close for jogging, etc.
So overall, I don't think this hotel is as bad as the reports say (or at least now it isnt).
And it's got a good location. It's about a 2-minute walk to the Green Park Tube stop/Picadilly line. It's only a 10-minute walk to Soho, Picadilly Circus, Hyde Park, Oxford Street, etc.
Oh yes, when you come out of the hotel turn left & go to the end of the street (20 feet) & turn left again & go 5 feet & turn into Shepard Market - pubs, shops, restaurants. We started off the pub crawl at Ye Grapes pub, which is located in Shepards Market.
I'm going back to UK in Jan cuz of cheap airfare/use up a sweet spot & I really have my fingers crossed that I can get a great rate at the Green Park Hilton again, as I would stay there again if I could. Its not the best of the London Hiltons, but would certainly meet my needs for an inexpensive, centrally located, still get points place to stay (currently I have the Renaissance Heathrow booked as it's the cheapest so far, but I'd really rather stay in town than commute back/forth each day).
So hope this update helps, and msy-msp/rtwstaralliance, feel free to add your thoughts. Cheers.

Thanks Sharon!
There have been many mixed reviews (pre-renovation) of the Green Park Hilton. I think everyone *wants* this to be a good property because of its great location next to the Green Park Underground and its easy walking distance to most of London's fun spots. I will certainly add comments to this review after I return from an ALON stay in December...
cheers, geo

Don't forget that Easy Everything has a dozen or more internet cafes in London. I paid a pound for 75 mins on Sunday morning.

Just remembered - there was a step up (or down) depending on the direction from the bathroom to the bedroom (small one, but first time you could trip if you didn't notice it).
And, while I had the queen bed & it was comfy, it was not as long as I'd expect, so for tall people their little toes might peek out a bit.

I am trying to book a Hilton London hotel for 2 Dec. trips, and nothing comes close to L69 incl. vat & breakfast (prices I found range L100- 160). Where did you find this rate? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
