More cancellations than stays?

Looking at my 15-odd Hilton reservations, around half are either safety-net reservations (waiting for something better to come along) or for meetings that I may or may not attend. At this rate, I might have more cancellations than stays.

Am I way off the bell curve?

No. I have 20 entries on my travel planner page and 11 are cancellations for stays that were booked but where the planned stay date has not yet passed. Is there a way to clean up the page and drop the cancellations from showing?

No, you're not off the curve for FlyerTalkers!

I do the same. Lots of "safety-net" (or "backup," if you will) reservations that end up getting cancelled.

I often book hotels almost a year ahead of time (for conventions for example) but really do not know exactly when I will arrive. I book a room arriving on separate dates, just in case (changing arrival date often results in change in cost). Also, I may book a stay in two nearby hotels until I chose which one depending on needs (resort hilton if I bring family or downtown property if alone).

Until they disallow this I plan to make full advantage of this!
