Diamond Renewal?

Diamond Renewal?
I have been Diamond for the past three years and this year will come up just short (25 stays). What has been your experience with HH either automatically renewing Diamond status or offering a challenge?

I tried checking with HHonours but they have been very non-committal. I am at 20 stays and 51 nights this year but have been at 110 nights last year at about 3-4 properties.
If you are just 3 stays short, I would check for cheap rates in your area or cheap awards and just get the 3 stays in...
