There was a question about Reno.
I have stayed in Reno as recently as March 2001 and they have a very similar attitude. The Flamingo there says it is not Hilton and has been saying that since January. I heard several people check in and be told they will not get points or credit and that its not a big deal since everything else is the same. When I call Hhonors they say they are part of the program, but are not being very good about it. So, you wont get an upgrade anymore and everyone will be very rude. You will get your points if you fax the bill to Hhonors as I did.
The Reno hilton is different, they give you an upgrade if available and are not too bad about it. However, they say they only give points and will only enter your numbers if the rate is above $49 per night, that is a pretty high rate for weekedays there.
The Flamingo is not worth the trouble as their hotel is in bad shape the non suites are very bad.

New Atlantic City Hilton
A few months ago I was told by a Hilton reservationist that the Hilton in AC was no longer a Hilton. While checking for a place to stay next week, there is a new Hilton listed but no matter what date I put in, it says there are no rooms available. It says it is the former Grand Casino at Boston & Boardwalk. Does anyone have more info?

Pat according to the website:
"Hilton Hotels Corporation has announced that The Grand Casino Resort (formerly a Bally Entertainment property), has been renamed the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort. Among Hilton's acquisitions are five of Bally Entertainment's casinos, including the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort and Bally's Park Place, among the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. Hilton Hotels Corporation is the largest hotel-casino company in the world and is internationally recognized as the preeminent hospitality, gaming and lodging company. The company develops, owns, manages and franchises hotel-casinos, resorts, hotel properties and vacation ownership resorts. The Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort features seven superb restaurants, a health spa, shops and convention facilities. The 2,000 seat state-of-the-art Theatre plays host to superstars including Kenny Rogers, Paul Anka, Liza Minnelli and many more. And now, introducing the Atlantic City Country Club exclusively to guests of the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort and Bally's Park Place. Located just 12 minutes from our door, this private retreat with 18 majestic holes overlooks the Atlantic City skyline."
So it would seem that all of the Bally's Hotels are going to Hilton. I would contract the hotel directly about their availability and participation with Hilton HHonors...

Good luck!
Edit: This hotel participates as a Select HHonors hotel.

Since I'm banned from the casino, I wonder if they'd let me stay at the hotel there?

Hilton Atlantic City
Has anyone had any luck booking a PAID room at this hotel? I have been trying for months to get any number of nights, and the system always returns "there are no available rooms for your dates." I've tried a few days in advance to a few months in advance. Nothing available... ever. The stay lengths I've tried are anywhere from 1 night, to 4 nights mid-week during non-holiday periods.
Anyone know what gives?

Just a note--this hotel in the past did not participate in the HHonors program. It would pay (if you can get a room) to call them and verify that they do participate if you are interested in points/stay credit.

I haven't tried calling. I just periodically check to see if there are any rooms available for a quick trip.
But, if they don't participate, my newly found loyalty to Hilton may change with respect to AC
Thanks.

Here's some history on the hotel. Assuming you are referring to the Park Place property.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum57/HTML/002255.html
The last time I called to check availability, I asked about getting points. I recall them saying they would award points of some sort (can't remember exactly what) but I suggest you call for confirmation.

You have to call them directly to make reservations; Hilton can't make reservations there. (Or maybe try http://www.parkplace.com/).
Also, I called 2 weeks ago and was told that they only give HH points if you are staying in a $150+/night room. I don't know if that's really true, as I didn't actually stay there. You might be able to get away with taking the statement and faxing it to the HH desk.

Atlantic City YHilton has its own website:
http://www.hiltonac.com
You can even see what the lowest rates are by clicking on a special offer of $99/night. But, when you look at the calender that appears you can see nights for as low as $55.00!!
Corrected. Typed so fast I did not notice the error!
