How do I get the cert?...
 

I booked 3 nights at the Cavalieri and 1 night at the airport Hilton in Rome. I got the cert for the airport right away, but I left the other one hang until I got enough points.

My City of Hope bonus posted, so I thought I'd get the cert. I can print out the confirmation, and I can cancel it, but there doesn't seem to be any (obvious) way to confirm it so that they take the points and give me the completed cert (i.e., fill in the reward confirmation ID).

Am I doing something wrong? Should I just show up with the reservation confirmation and they'll take care of it there? Do I have to call the diamond desk? I don't remember going through any particular machinations when I got the other one.

the only way I have been able ot do that (i.e. get the cert after I booked the stay) was to call HH and have them email it to me w/ the rez # on it.

Hilton used to have a great online function for requesting certs. Recently, Hilton switched to an automatic withdrawal of points when we made our award bookings. At that point, the online function went away. Now, the only way to get the cert is to do as squeakr suggests - call and ask for it. Hilton should be able to email it to you.

While the above is true to a great degree I have been able to make reward stays by calling the HHonors desk without them withdrawing the points ( just did two such within the last two weeks, for stays 6 months hence ) Now I dont know if they do check to see if you actually have an adequate amount of points, which I do, or not.
