"Comments on file" in reservation comments section

I made two reservations at a Hilton property last night. I wrote some comments in the comments box for each. Today I can't see or edit what I wrote. All I can see is "Comments on file." Even for a new reservation at this hotel or any other I see the same thing.

What's going on?

Same here. VERY annoying. I thought it was particular to the Cavalieri, where I made the reservation. No idea what they are up to with this!!!

Me too....

Happened to me also. Funny thing is, I don't have any comments on file! But I did want to add something...but was unable to..

If it makes you feel any better, when I have gone to log into Hilton (sensu stricto) today, I get:

We're sorry but we are unable to process your login. You may book your reservations without login. Be sure to provide your HHonors®/Senior HHonors® account number on the Guest Information form.

When I click on HHonors and log onto THAT website (hiltonhonors.com), clicking on My Travel Planner tab takes me - to Hilton.com to an initial reservations page!

This smacks of an attempted software upgrade, possibly. (Whoppee, last time the bloody booking engine wound up making triplicate and quadruplicate bookings for me :p, as in "Good afternoon, Mr JDiver, when will the rest of your party be checking in?" when I made a single No smoking King booking at AAA rate, several times.)

Oh, well, non illegitimi carborundum!

HHnors still down

Yes I have been getting that message for hours now.

same here since around 8:20pm... was able to book one reservation earlier, but when trying to book a second one tonight, it keeps telling us

"We're sorry but we are unable to process your login. You may book your reservations without login. Be sure to provide your HHonors®/Senior HHonors® account number on the Guest Information form"

MOST of it is back today... but my Comments are still reflected in "Comments on File.: :p

Is this a new "enhancement?"

This is a bit off the Hilton subject, but I was just filling out a Starwood best rate guarantee form on the web. It was rejecting my submission telling me something was missing. I called the help desk telephone number that they listed. That person said they would get an answer, came back to the phone, and said, that "you have to fill out the form on the website"...this department was unavailable to speak to directly.

While I was on hold, I realized that I had my arrival/departure dates formated incorrectly. So, it was my fault in the end, but come on....make the insanity stop.

Technology is great when it works!

I called a hilton property directly to reserve a state government rate because the website showed no availability. I did provid him my hhonors number. When I checked the reservation online, saw the same "comments on file".

Hi,

I have the same " Comments on file". When I booked the reservations a few weeks ago I put in the comment box " Upgraded room if available please ( HH Diamond)"

Regards

I have been seeing the error accessing online reservations for a while now. I called HHonours last week to update my comments field to get a bay view room. They did that and after that it showed "Comments on File" but I was now able to access that reservation online (?) Go figure!

They sent that reservation to me and in the reservation email it did have all my comments listed verbatim, rather than just "Comments on file". So could be a new implementation of how they store comments?

Just a thought ...

Hilton email follow-up

I personally liked being able to add comments such as near elevator etc to a particular reservation for a particular hotel. From reading Hilton's reply it looks at though we will have to phone in our requests from now on.

Hilton Reply

Dear Derikg:

The Hilton Internet Contact Center has just received your e-mail for processing. We appreciate you taking the time to write! The Comments field is no longer available for viewing or modification on the Reservation Lookup screen. The Comments field is also used primarily by the hotels with special abbreviations and other information that some guests found confusing when looking up their reservation on the site. If you have questions about the comments on your reservation or if you would like to make a change to them, please contact Hilton Reservations for assistance.

What a line. If "some" guests find it confusing then let the rest of us go to an expert mode and enter our comments.

I agree that it seems a pretty lame excuse. It appears to me (call me a skeptic) more as though the properties were complaining about having to fulfill all the special requests put in by guests, and this is a way to discourage folks from making those requests. I ran into this for the first time a couple days ago, and I am not happy about it.

Have another drink of "crock-o-cola"...

I'll continue filling out the comment box on booking with what I want them to pay attention to, but I did like verifying it later occasionally. I guess HH is merely protecting us from ourselves. :td:
