This hotel has a monthly 'Hilton Honors Appreciation' Event, 2nd Wednesday evening of each month, between 7 and 8 PM in the bar (small side room area to the left as one enters the bar area). All HH members invited, not just gold/diamonds...Decent alcohol choices to self pour (champagne, red/white wine, a few (bottled) beer choices), soft drinks and small nibbles.

Only a few seats put out so arrive early if that is needed/important.

Hotel staff mingle to better get to know the HH guests but it was pleasant and staff are quite nice here. From memory about 5 staff and roughly 10 hotel guests so decent chance to talk to the staff and for them to hear your feedback!

Event was held in Nov. 21, and most recently 9th Feb.

Please do update the wiki if you have other useful info to share regarding the hotel. Thank you!

Stayed there a couple of times last year. Continental breakfast, but I'm not even sure about that.

Bar, restaurant and leisure club.

It's right next to the motorway, but I can't recall being bothered by that.

Hilton East Midlands UK

Stayed there on business this weekend. Average at best and another example of how the Hilton Brand is being devalued by some of these UK properties. I was upgraded to a club room, which was dingy. Very hot, only ventilation was a window on to the motorway with associated noise.
Bathroom once again featured rotten grout and mould. suggesting a lack of adequate cleaning.
No Exec lounge so as I had booked a rate without breakfast I was charged 16 pounds for a bowl of fruit, a yoghurt and a cup or tea.

The nearby Nottingham Hilton was much better in my experience.

I live within 20 minutes and have used it to qualify for status on the odd occasion it has a very average poor value restaurant passable rooms and a fairly disinterested staff. Having said that its probably the best of a bad bunch at EMA They do serve a reasonable pint in the bar .

It is not pleasant to read such terrific reports about the hotel. Wanted to use it on my UK hotel run journey but am not sure now.

Any recent updates? Any idea how to reach by public transport from airport and next morning to Sheffield?

Feel valued here as a Diamond

I think the hotel recognises HHonors well.

Make sure your MYway is upgrade/ breakfast (sorry, just checking).

They offer comp breakfast, and the chef on my last visit was great. They also upgrade consistantly- say if you want a quieter room on check in as the rooms that face the motorway have more traffic noise, but other rooms are surprisingly quiet. Check in staff I have found very friendly and helpful.

Im not sure if this applies all week, but as a Diamond, they also normally give you a "star" for a complimentary drink in the bar, as well as a welcome amenity in the room.

As a side, the minibus service to the airport is also very good, and the drivers are friendly and helpful.

Thank you, Skimanant, for your update on this hotel. That sounds much more appealing than the old stories.

Regarding the airport shuttle. How much does it cost (for diamonds) and how frequent does it run? Is there a need for informing the hotel about ones arrival time?

I stay there regularly to break car journeys North.

Most of the property is unrefurbished and relatively poor, however the Deluxe Plus rooms are modern and comfortable and are recommended.

HH Diamond Recognition is excellent. I have always been given one free drink at the bar (per guest), full breakfast, newspaper of my choice and free parking.

The non deluxe-plus rooms are really rather poor but apart from that the property is fine and most of the staff are cheerful and pleasant.

shuttle etc

I would inform the hotel ahead, email them maybe?
As far as I know shuttle is free to the airport, but you may have to get a taxi to the station (its not far, I would say 10 max), But, I might be tempted to have a word with the shuttle driver..........
Carlos on front desk (manager) is an asset to the Hilton brand, he is superb, tell him I said hi!
Some of the rooms are more modern than others, you may be pleasantly surprised. I think this hotel has improved considerably over the latter years (Ive been a diamond for 12 years), I like it, the staff are great and it offers good value.

It is the closest Hilton to us about 20 minutes away and we use it quite a bit when the price is right to bump our stays up.
As a Diamond you get upgraded to exec floor slightly better fitted out rooms.
1/4 bottle of wine, a jar of nuts, jar of sweets, couple of dressing gowns and slippers.
Full comp English breakfast sometimes all off the buffet sometimes off the menu depending on occupancy, there is always a chef to cook eggs to order.
Free car parking and a couple of drinks vouchers for the bar.
Lovely staff hope you enjoy.
