Well. I stayed here on Thursday. As mentioned previously, I cancelled my award points reservation and paid $215 for a falls view room to make sure I got one. Was given 5 options for e-check-in (1502, 1503, 1603 and 1702 and 2609). I called the desk and asked which one they recommended. 2609 was recommended so I took it. A great room with wonderful views of both falls. I did ask when I checked in if there was anything better and was told there was nothing available at all. I was very happy with this room though! As previousy mentioned, managers reception with 1 drink ticket was a joke. I ended up skipping breakfast there and stopped somewhere else on the way to the airport the next morning. At times elevators were crowded, so I could not imagine how bad it would be on a weekend. Valet was over 30 minutes (even though they said 15). I ignored the tip jar at check-in. Bottom line is that this is the last time I will stay here on my on dime. And I certainly would not spent the award points required for this hotel!

July 2008 stay

I just stayed at the ES Niagara Falls on 7/20 and was pleasantly suprised. From this thread it sounded like it was going to be a mixed experience but went ahead because its got a better falls view than the other Hilton properties.

I paid for one night in a Jr. Pres Suite and had a second reservation on points. Initially they said we'd have to change rooms to a lower level Cityview on the 2nd night but on the 2nd morning they went ahead and let us keep the Jr. Presidential Suite which had a great view and was well appointed.

Breakfast was crowded but the serving stations were efficient. Better still they do it in the Keg restaurant so you get a great 9th floor falls view for Breakfast. (the restaurant is pretty good too - not top notch but still good).

Stayed here for 2 nights last month. As usual I book well ahead.Because of the poor reports I booked a jr.presidential suite at a very good rate.On checkin they surprised me by upgrading to a presidential suite.Fantastic view of both falls which is the whole point of staying here.
Breakfast was adequate but very crowded. The reception is nothing-terrible wines. On our second night we were exhausted so ate at the keg. They said the prime rib was their specialty-well it certainly wasnt very special.Eat elsewhere.
Their valet parking is a fair distance from the hotel-I wanted something from the car so they let me ride in the valet's bus there and back.No wonder you have to wait.
All in all I was pleasantly surprised by our treatment and was happy with the experience.

Experiences of Gold using points at Hilton Embassy Niagara Falls Ont.

Has anyone had experience using points for a stay at the Hilton Embassy Suites Hotel in Niagara Falls Ontario? We are Gold VIP HH and wondering if they upgrade properly at this hotel and give free breakfast (our selected option on our account). Any other Gold experiences at the other Hiltons in area is also appreciated. View and location are inportant to us. But, I don't like paying a lot for parking. Is it $20 even for points stay to park car?

Everyone gets free breakfast at Embassy, you should check your MyWay benefits - for Golds at ES you get a choice of snack items or points or Internet. Yes you will have to pay for parking if you use the hotel's lot (same everywhere). You would probably get a nice room at the hotel though with a good view on points. If location is what you want, the ES and Hilton are closest, the DT a bit further down, then there's a couple Hamptons in there, one closer to the falls, one north of the falls.

Looks like a nice deal, but I can't get over all the horribly photoshopped pictures to include a nice view of the falls. My favorite is the steakhouse:

They're all so happy that none of them realize the restaurant is falling over into the falls. Look out!

No worries, the Maid of the Mist will be around to pick 'em all up.

(That is as much guiding the lily as photos of "clown" anemonefish - in the Caribbean. Hilton marketing folks do a great hob of overdoing it.)

I rarely give a negative review of hotels on this or TA, but must warn Hilton Gold and Diamond members about the Embassy Suites in Niagara Falls Ontario. If you use points and even cash (discounted rate) and expect to be upgraded to highest category room like you've been at other properties then you will be disappointed even during off season.

We were booked for one night cash and the second night with points. We were told at the time of booking that we would be upgraded to a very high floor and most likely get a view of both falls as was noted on the booking (it was for our anniversary). We are Gold VIP HH. It was also noted that we wanted a king bed. When we arrived we were given a two queen beds (these are really double beds) looking straight at the concrete pillar of the ugly Minolta Tower. We immediately went back to reception where they said no king/fallsview were available even though I had just called and confirmed with Hilton that there were. Finally they gave us a Canadian fallsview room (two 'queen' beds). We were okay with that. The manager said to come down in the morning and they'd be able to accomodate my request for a king bed fallsview.

Showed up a 7:30AM, and the person at the desk found a room, but then went to ask the manager. She (the manager) shook her head NO and that was that. I asked if I could pay for the difference with cash to upgrade and she said "Sorry but we don't have any king bed fallsview rooms left." She lied! I immediately called Hilton and they told me they knew there were a number of King bed fallsview rooms available. But, management at this hotel will not budge. You get what they want to give you and have little respect for faithful Hilton Honors members. Oh, and this was the first part of October (off season) when the leaves haven't even turned yet so it's not fall color season which can get busier.

Lesson: don't expect much if you're a HH Gold or Diamond. They don't care unless you're spending straight cash and it helps if you have a big package with the casino.

Most of the hotels in Niagara Falls, from what we've found over the 9 times we've been there, don't operate like most of the Starwood, Marriotts and Hiltons around the world. Although Starwood members are treated better at the Sheraton on the Falls then Hilton treats their members. Marriott doesn't accept free stays (points) at any of there hotels for the most part (especially in summer).

Otherwise, the stay was enjoyable and the breakfast was okay. No complaints otherwise, but just warning HH members who might be used to certain treatment.

EDIT to clarify this *was* indeed the ES Fallsview, as blackjack-21 points out below. I was stream-of-consciousness-posting from an earlier mention of the Embassy...

Stayed at the ES Fallsview this week. Very impressive views (39th floor, facing both falls, "front of hotel" mildly upgraded suite, I guess).

Breakfast good, a little crowded in the lines before seated in The Keg.

Ate at Keg the night before, kinda noisy... food fine, salads quite good, views great if you're in the front, but not some of the other rows.

"Valet" i.e., parking shuttle is a scam. Park a block away at the casino for $5, or pay $20 for a ride to the lot, or $30 for real valet. Not impressed with this feature.

You can't walk down to the falls (no fault of the hotels) as easily as you should, because tehre's a tourista trap "railway" that you pay $5 round trip to go the few feet where there could have been stairs, but instead the city planners made it hard to have to walk all the way around the town and block off the easy hill to walk straight down to the falls. Gripe there, but not against the hotel. Hotel had a free bus that picks up on the side of the hotel to take you down to the falls.

Things were clean, rooms a little on the older side, but not bad though... it's obviously all about the view here, and it does make up for some of the shortcomings.

Didn't know they had a Keg at the Hilton, as there's one at the nearby ES, and it sounds like you're describing the ES rooms.
You should have asked for a room in the north tower at the Hilton. Newer, nicer rooms as that tower is under a year old, and you may have gotten one as a HHonors member if they were available. And parking at the casino across the street and connected to both the Hilton and the casino's parking garage by a covered walkway is just a short walk to both the Hilton or the casino from the garage, and it's free with the casino's players card. No need to spend $20 or $30 per day to park.

Does anyone have a contact email for the General Manager or Guest Services Manager at this hotel? I have been searching online and have not been able to find one anywhere... Usually it is quite easy to locate, but in this case, no luck. I have a reservation booked here and want to contact the GM ahead of time. Even a name would help and I might fax a letter. Trying to negotiate an upgrade ahead of time, while using a couple of Q3FNs. Having read several posts, I think that it may be the best shot, as I do not want to wait until I arrive.

This property remains the most disappointing hotel experience I have ever had with any chain or boutique.

I was able to find out the GM's name is Ralph Sabourin. This was provided to me by the Hhonors Diamond Desk after some prodding (I actually think that they called the hotel and asked for me, because it took a few minutes on hold and she initially said that she may have to contact the hotel directly to find out). I have sent an email to [email protected] with no response as of yet (not sure if that email address works for him either, but it did not bounce back to me). I am going to fax the hotel directly and hope for something. I did receive a response from the hotel reservations department ([email protected]), stating that "...upgrades are done at the desk upon check in based on availability..." I thought that this was a very interesting comment based on several of the posts made earlier to this thread... I also thought about the Hilton Towers, but the reviews there are just as bad...

I will post a follow up if there is one...
