As a longtime guest, I’m not really offended. If I had never stayed there before I might react differently. |

Yeah, I’ve read of it happening before. I have a somewhat limited social prescence, with most of my info set as private.

Well, here I am at another Hampton Inn (the exact location is not important since, despite this vent, the staff are working hard to provide a good experience despite...)
I am currently a HH Diamond - and while the "Diamond Parking" is nice, beyond that....staying in these are getting harder and harder. - I am not a big breakfast person and often just some fruit and coffee (which I can typically get at work) is hardly a 'perk' when everyone gets it (the afternoon coffee was cold) - the room is old and looks and feels it - the A/C is loud and the windows barely open, which all contributes to a musty/chloride smell throughout the entire room and hotel - my initial room (near the gym) was a cell dead zone which was unacceptable for me since I am here for work and people need to call me (I gave them the hotel number as a back-up) - the staff quickly switched rooms which is only marginally better - but no fridge or microwave (I was told that the 2nd floor of a 3 floor hotel didnt have a budget for fridges)....dont have the energy to move again....at least the ice machine is working (last time I stayed here, at the same property, the machine on the 3rd floor wasn't working) - the towels are thin, worn, and junk with torn shower curtains - the concept of an upgrade or better room does not exist when all the rooms are the same. - the check-in HH bonus? a bottle of water and a bag of chips??? really? this isnt the typical "no staff due to COVID" that others experience at there appear to be enough people around to clean the rooms - which appear clean, despite carpet and curtains that are probably decades old As I said - the staff are friendly (they remember me from my last extended visit a few months ago) and they are trying, but I also sense they know what they have to deal with..... this seems to be a common theme on Hamptons (since I have stayed at several this year).... friendly (and enough) staff but properties that are very worn out and zero added value for status? ...next time, I will try the Fairfield down the road..... ..and this is comparing to a recent Courtyard stay! 2) Check the year built (or year of last advertised renovation) 3) Pick the best / most appropriate hotel No need to rely on brand reputation or elite program for any of these decisions, the information is out there |
