Se Catedral Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Hello, we are travelling to this new Hilton hotel in Porto in about 3 weeks time. Has anyone been there yet?? Looks to be in a better location than the other Hilton's in Porto.

Stayed here for two nights earlier this week. No need to look elsewhere. Location is indeed fantastic, on the side of the old city centre, you can walk everywhere. Brand new hotel, great staff that takes care of everything. Never stayed in a tapestry before, but if all are of this quality i will be selecting it much more. Very modern interior, lots of neon lights, (we even had a wooden horse in our room). Received an upgrade to a larger room, and breakfast was really nice also.

Thanks, we are arriving into Porto in 2 weeks . Not sure if you are a Diamond, but I will post here once I get back about any Diamond benefits.

Just finished a 4 day stay

Really nice hotel in a great location. The staff was lovely and they were always happy to provide directions to any of the sights. Hotel was brand new and had a nice modern vibe . The only drawback was the smallish room. I will post a pic but the standard queen room was long and thin .
It was especially tight getting around the bed to the window. Breakfast was varied and over 4 days I never got bored with the various offerings .
If I had to give a rating it would probably be 4 stars but I will definitely return again to this hotel.

Thanks for the photo. Looks like they went again for the minimalist design - and from this one, it looks more like a Home2Suite/Tru by Hilton standard hotel. I had expected more from a Tapestry branded hotel.

Cheers!

This looks really bad: no real chair for the smallish table, very strange room layout in a wedge, tiny window. Are all the rooms like this ?

Tapestry is slotted under Curio so think of it as a soft collection of Doubletree quality properties. A huge distinction in North America at least is that Tapestry properties are not required to have centralized HVAC, which can really lower the overall quality of the room.

Yes , most of the rooms are like this. I did do a room change due to a small issue and the other room was quite similar. It was not ideal but overall the location and the staff make up for the strange room configuration. Almost everything worth doing was in short walking distance

I stayed for a week in April. I was in a larger room than pictured here. If you've got status, it may be worth asking to see if they'll have a bigger room available for later on in your stay.

The staff are amazing! And I loved the breakfast.

Se Cathedral Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection

Just staying here and can't find a thread on it (mods please merge if thread does exist)

Excellent location, only 50 metres to the cathedral and metro station. The hotel is a short walk down the hill to restaurants and the Ribeira. Also the top level of Dom Luis bridge is only metres away, so you can access Villa Nova de Gaia for the Port Lodges easily as well.

Staff are lovely and very helpful.

Hotel is in an old converted building and is quirky. Bedrooms are quirky in shape and decoration. Our room is triangular and you need to be very slim to get past the foot of the twin beds. So lots of charm but perhaps not always the most practical.

This is also definitely a Tapestry in terms of room features. Open wardrobe only, bathroom amenities in multi use bottles rather than individuals, no bath robes etc.
Also there is no exec lounge, fitness centre. One other small quirk is that they only provide two pods for the coffee machine per STAY. So after the first morning you have to pay 1€ per extra coffee or extra tea bag.

Overall, I would highly recommend for the location and the staff here are fantastic. But don't expect a full service Hilton. If you want fitness centre/lounge/diamond or gold upgrades then you may need to stay elsewhere and compromise on location.

Also stayed here a couple days ago. I loved the location of the hotel and the staff were wonderful.

Our room was full of neon lights and a large carnival horse (like the ones youd find on a carousel). It was interesting! The room and bathroom were large and plenty of space for the two of us.

Our room also had a balcony but you were not able to use it. I was told it is a security issue so they dont allow guests to access the balcony area.

We also stopped at the restaurant/lounge one hot afternoon for a beer. Was pleasantly surprised that the pricing was the same as what you would have found at any pub in Porto. 3 Euros for a pint!

I would definitely stay here again.

Interested to see this thread pop up as I've just booked for a couple of nights early December with the hope of visiting a Christmas market.

Has anyone used the Metro to get here from the Airport? It looks cheap and easy, but then a taxi only seems to be €25.

Just checking out today. Overall view is that the hotel is excellent. Great location and service.

Breakfast included with my Gold status was great. No restrictions to continental only and availability to order eggs from the kitchen.

Highly recommended.

With regards getting around, we used taxi apps (Bolt was cheapest and best). We arrived via train so I can’t advise about getting from the airport on arrival.
