Any airline gives complimentary Hilton Diamond?

I seem to remember of the airlines used to give their top tier members complimentary Hilton Diamond status. Does anyone know if that still exists?

I had to look it up.

BAEC GGL = British Airways (BA) Executive Club (the name of their frequent flyer programme) Gold Guest List (an upper Gold level)

The BA Gold tier is equivalent to oneworld Emerald.

You get it from earning 5,000 tier points, which is roughly a first class return transatlantic or transcontinental once a month, or twice every three months in business, although if you have a long haul connecting to another long haul flight, that counts double.

I had no idea about this, that's quite a great deal. Are these the only two airlines that offer such a high perk? Of course, American and World of Hyatt have a partnership where Concierge Keys get Globalist for free. And United and Marriott have a partnership, too, but it's not as high of status. Hilton Diamond is a great deal!

Thanks for the info, that is a neat perk. Someone with that status could forego the Aspire card for Hhonors Diamond.

There are probably less than 3000 GGL's out there, of those probably 1500 would not be caught dead in a Hilton on a regular basis, another 1000 already have Diamond or Lifetime Diamond because they travel too much, so maybe there are 500 who might occasionally use the benefit.

Ohhhh, so it's just a one-time promotion for a recent year? or you only get it for one year and that's it going forward if you requalify for Virgin Australia status?

It's when your status gets upgraded to Platinum do you get a one-time complimentary upgrade to Hilton Diamond not each time you renew your Platinum status. The only way around this is if you time your travel to intentionally downgrade your status to Gold and quickly upgrade to Platinum again.

Or try nine round-trip flights between Abu Dhabi and Jakarta in business-class via Colombo on Sri Lankan, at around £700 a pop. Throw in 4 flights between anywhere and anywhere on BA, and ..
.. voilą! you are GGL + CCR and, best of all, you get that much prized jewel of the hotel world, Hilton's Diamond card.

Don't laugh, people are doing this. At least one of them making the trips back to back....
