60 Nights to Maintain Diamond

If I have a 28 night stay that starts on December 5, 2020 and ends on January 2, 2021, will the points for nights Dec 5 - 31 be posted for this current year, 2020? Or when I check out on January 2nd, all 28 nights will be posted for calendar year 2021???

I need as many nights as I can for 2020 to obtain the minimum of 60 nights to retain diamond status.

Thanks to anyone that can help 😊

It'll post to 2021 but you'll earn milestone bonuses (if relevant) for 2020.

So assuming you're on 32 nights beforehand and all were stayed in 2020, you'll get your 2020 40 and 50 night milestone bonuses on checkout, will fall just short of the 60-night/40k milestone bonus, and will have 28 nights credit in 2021.

Thanks! That's what I thought 😞 I guess I'll split up that stay so I can check out on December 30th to be safe and book the other few days separately. Thanks again!

Just remember that if you have a stay ending on 30th, and another one in the same property starting on the 30th, Honors and the Ts & Cs will combine those stays and it'll still post to 2021.

Dang. I forgot about that I'll just book at another hotel for new year's then. Thanks a bunch for the reminder. Too many things to remember 🙄

Don’t forget, you can renew Diamond with 30 stays, if you do a lot of single nights or shorter trips. I had assumed I would lose Diamond last year just missing out on the 60 nights, however have retained it via stays.

Unfortunately, I'm basically a full-time traveler and it's hard to do a lot of short stays. Not impossible, just too much aggravation with packing/unpacking and the extra expense of taxis from one hotel to the next in the same city. I actually don't mind going to a different Hilton hotel for New year's Eve because it would provide me a closer view of the fireworks display😊

I appreciate the information though, and maybe down the road it may be something I could fall back on. Thank you!

Yes, it is always cheaper to qualify by stays than by nights.

If you can qualify by credit card for 10 years of Diamond, then go ahead and take 30 or 40 years to accrue the requisite 1,000 nights for Lifetime Diamond!
