how long does it take for 250 statement resort credit to show? My spending was around $400 (hilton big island) which also triggered a 45 dollar Amex Offer Credit, I was wondering if this would be clawed back once my $250 Credit hit?

When I stayed at a resort a couple weeks ago, I had around $28 in food and beverage charges that I charged to my room and were billed directly from the hotel to my credit card.

The $28 Amex Resort Credit reimbursement, posted automatically in about 3 business days.

Regarding the $45 Amex offer credit, I was shocked that I was also targeted, since I already have the Aspire with a $250 resort credit. The extra $45 feels like double dipping, but, we should be fine because they are two separate offers.

I could've also added the $45 Amex offer to my non-Hilton Amex card too, but it was much more advantageous, since I had the choice, to add it to the Aspire.

I'm guessing this depends on how the Aspire resort credits show up on Amex statements. Do they appear as a credit directly from the property/Hilton, or as a credit from Amex?

If it's a credit from the property, then I could see it getting clawed back from a systems perspective, as your total spend would be calculated as $400 - $250. No different than if you returned merchandise tied to an Amex offer.

However if the resort credit appears as a credit from Amex or something besides the property directly, then I'd think you'd be fine to double dip.

I haven't used any of my resort credit yet so not sure how it shows up.

We have a 4 night stay in June at Grand Wailea that I am planning on using the $250 resort credit on. From what I can gather any charges that are put on our room tab will be reimbursed by Amex (up to $250) as long as I use my Aspire to pay for the charges when we check out. This should include parking fees ($30 a day for this resort) and restaurants (food and beverage charges)? I am also curious if anyone knows if this will also include and alcohol purchases made at the restaurants or bars? I don't see where those are excluded as long as they are billed to the room. It's vacation so definitely curious about that one lol.

Just wanted to provide an update:

I booked the Hilton Honors Discount, NON AP RATE. The charges were billed directly from the Chicago Oak Brook property and posted 4/2.

The remaining $250 resort credit posted today, 4/5, for $222. In addition, I had previously received an AMEX OFFER for $45 off of $250 on any Hilton resort.

This separate $45 adjustment posted on 4/4.

Going forward, I would avoid making an ADVANCED PURCHASE for a domestic Hilton property. The $250 resort credit should still apply, but it won't post automatically and you may need to fight with Amex for a manual adjustment.

If it is an International property, AP should be fine as it will be billed directly from the property.

Do we know for sure that this is true for every international property?

And as mentioned in another recent thread, there's at least one international resort property that doesn't take Amex period.

Good Point. I was just going by what a previous Hilton rep told me that all AP rates for international locations are handled by the actual property.

I don't have anything else to substantiate this.

I will also be interested in anyone is successful in getting a manual credit for anyone that booked at AP RATE at a domestic property and hasn't seen it post automatically.

Will I get the credit if I am making a booking for the Conrad Bangkok "Honors Discount Advanced Purchase" rate?

Anyone with problem making an international booking via the AP rate and not get credit?

Thanks

You will not get credit at Conrad Bangkok. The resort credit is only valid at the resorts on the list provided by Hilton.

I booked for June at the Tropicana in Vegas. Not a prepaid rate, but they charge a deposit. Reimbursement hit quickly, about 2-3 later.

Thanks for pointing that out. If I book at any hotel under the HIlton Resort via AP rate, will I still get the credit?

Based on previous comments, if the resort is outside of the U.S., yes.
