Man made island and some water villas and their foundations perhaps?

Original island

Original island and some land villas being built
Just left the Conrad this afternoon and we flew directly next to where the new Waldorf-Astoria is being built. They created two islands (left and right islands on google maps...Apple maps still only shows the middle island) in addition to the one that was already there in the middle. Only have pictures of the left and middle islands and they look to be connected by a small bridge. Curious to what they’ve done on the third island, did not get a good view flying directly on top of it.

Wow indeed.
When would you expect them to start taking reservations? And would you expecr it to be more expensive (points and/or cash) than the Conrad?

Damn, this looks so nice. Going to be tough breaking away from my CR Maldives romance, but I just might be tempted.

Haven’t heard anything other than an early 2019 opening. Points wise for the beach villa will be 95k a night I’m sure.

...yeah, watched that (very nice!) video and didn't see anything about "Seaplane Dock" or "Arrivals Boat Launch", etc.

Hmm.

Seriously though, "The resort, to be run under one of two luxury brands in Hilton’s portfolio, will span three islands in South Male Atoll that are accessible by a short 20-minute speedboat ride from the Maldives main Velana International Airport."
