Advice: Use points or take advantage of Promo

Hi there-

We're staying at the Sandestin Hilton in October on a reservation booked with points (70k per night, so 280k for a 5 night stay). The cash price is about $1882 with fees and taxes (HHonors Semi-Flex rate).

Would I see better value in keeping my award reservation, or paying with my Aspire using the Power Up promo and earning points (54x points per dollar)?

Thanks

With Hilton's approach to devaluing as fast as they can, IMO you spend points whenever you can do so at a reasonable valuation, especially when you've got hundreds of thousands of points.

But ultimately you can answer the question by doing some simple math yourself and deciding what Hilton points are worth to you...

Welcome to FT. At your current award rate, you're basically spending 56k points per night for a $376/night rate, which is a pretty good points/$$ value and use of Honors points. It really depends if you have any future travel planned where you would "need" the points more, or could use the extra ~100k that would come from changing to the paid rate and paying with your Aspire.

Thanks both. Good points about likely continued HH devaluation, and a pretty good value on this current award reservation. I still have a fairly large account balance and don't foresee any immediate need of the extra 100k (or the strong desire to drop another 2k on this vacation when I don't have to). Appreciate the quick replies.

The choices are 279000 points or $1882 - 102628 points, thus 1882 / 381628 = 0.493 cents per point. I'd ideally want it to be above 0.5c but that's close enough.

So would I but it seems Hilton is trying its best to make it .00-4 max, and at times its not so easy for me to find valuation
