Booking strategy for 2 rooms
My spouse and I both have status (Diamond and Gold) but we are traveling with another couple on an upcoming trip and they don't have any status. The points are typically all in my account.
On an upcoming trip, does make sense and/or is it necessary that we should book the rooms such that one is in each of our names so that we can extend the benefit (basically free breakfast) to everyone? Or is that more complicated than is necessary? |
Why not call the front desk and ask? (2 rooms, 2 people with status, not anything about status actually staying in 2nd or not)
Terms say only 2 breakfasts/night. Most hotels will do 2 per room and some even all registered guests. |
You can make reservations for both rooms in your name. On the second reservation, just add one of the other couples names. Then they can use their credit card to pay once you are there. I've done that several times when traveling with another mom and kids at swim meets or with my parents. I've never had an issue that everyone didn't get free breakfast.

Best strategy is to book 1 room in spouse's name. That way for sure 2 rooms are registered to elite status members and therefore 4 breakfasts is guaranteed.
Everything else is making an assumption that the hotel will extend elite benefits to everybody staying with a Diamond member. (not a good idea) |
Thanks All - given that it's for a hotel in France, I don't want to deal with the language barrier issues. I'll take the suggestion to book separately. Good thing Hilton allows us to transfer points.
