I understand that America-bashing can be a fun sport for our foreign friends; however, the hotel in question was in the United Kingdom. The word London should have been a clue to you, as well as not assuming that the stay was in the US because the American poster was charged in US Dollars on his credit card statement.

I don't know where your comment about America-bashing comes from. If you would have looked at my home airport code, that would have been a clue to you that I'm not a "foreign friend" - whatever connotation that may carry for you.
If you defend Hilton's practice, then come out and say so. Don't expect me to agree with you.

I made no assumptions. I made a general statement which completely pertained to the subject at hand.

Personally I think, that every bottle with a ‘free’ sticker should be for free - in every hotel, in every country.

I’m at a garden inn now and the signs on the water bottle do say “enjoy two free bottles of water on every stay”
It might not be the same sign, but just throwing a data point out there.

That is some cheap move by a Hilton brand right there. On top of that they ding you on breakfast for extra guest. Regardless of policy, most properties likely would have comped both.
And two bottles (total $0.99 retail) per stay? How's that a benefit? That policy should at least be changed to read 'per day'.

I just stayed in that same DT London West End hotel a couple of weeks ago and it was terrible. I also saw the two bottles of water and they were like half pint size.
A single room really means single, as in one twin bed in a closet sized room. The rooms (switched more than once) smelled like mold, two of three elevators were out of service and the first night they were out of bar soap as they didn’t get a delivery. I told them to get some from Tesco! This hotel was formerly a Park Inn by Radisson and they just put lipstick on a pig.

ISomehow the reservation got messed up and was only showing it for one and my friend had to crash on the floor that night and they wouldn't comp his breakfast because they claimed for a single room it was free breakfast for only one. Fortunately he lived in the London area and was working that morning and doesn't eat much and just grabbed a scone from a bakery on his way to work.

I'm wondering if they noticed the room was for two not knowing the diamond desk thought it was a queen bed and changed it to one person but the hotel should have contacted me. I didn't pay any attention when I checked in on the app to notice if it was for one or two.
I just thought it was cheap not comping a second breakfast and the water really irritates me seeing all the issues I had

A couple of the staff members were great but a few had a real attitude. I checked out around 6 a.m. Sunday for a early flight to Heathrow and the front desk clerk insisted on calling a car service they like. I told him I was taking the underground and he kept telling me the underground doesn't start running until 9 on Sunday and I was going to miss my flight and I would have trouble finding a cab at Holbern once I arrived to find the station close. I told him I know the underground runs all night Friday and Saturday nights and has been for a couple years and runs every 10 minutes and he said it was Sunday morning and the underground stops running at around 2 a.m. I am sure the car service gives them a kickback and who knows how many tourists he deceived that believed him the underground doesn't run on Sunday mornings.
