No points on travel agent booking
Checked out this morning and asked desk agent to add my HH number to the booking (before I requested check out)
Agent refused, saying 'it's impossible and you don't get any points as the booking was pre-paid by TA' Spoke to the manager who said exactly the same thing. I explained that in all other Hilton properties worldwide this has never been an issue, would not budge. I rely on these bookings to re-new status, is this a new policy ? |
Well this has always been the policy, the only way to get the points and stay credit is by booking direct with Hilton. If a hotel gives the benefits or the points this is not standard, but purely a courtesy or mistake of the hotel. |
Even if your HH number was added, you wouldn't earn any points.

I have not stayed in a Hilton property since I earned my Gold status. So I'm completely unfamiliar with Gold benefits. My main concern is: if I book thru Expedia, am I entitled for the free breakfast?
|
For bookings made through an OTA (Expedia, etc) you definitely don't get any points or status recognition (i.e. free breakfast, upgrades).
What I'm unsure of is if this rule also include traditional travel agents. It was my understanding that bookings made through traditional TAs did count fort points and status, otherwise those who have to book through corporate TAs due to work requirements and Amex FHR would not accrue points (and we know they do). Can anyone confirm? |

If booked through 3rd party channel you can get benefits like free breakfast or an upgrade - this depends solely on the "goodwill" pof the hotel and is not guaranted.
But you will not get points. |
Thanks for all the replies. Then hilton.com will be the way to go.
The free breakfast is a great perk! |
It’s not just Hilton that does this. They all want you to book direct if you want benefits.

IMHO, what's posted above isn't entirely true. Lots of TA reservations earn points. OTAs don't. Also excluded are TA "discount rates." There are tons of people here who book through a corporate TA and get points.
Here are the T&C's: A "stay" is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again. Specifically excluded from the definition of "stay" are the following types of ineligible stays:
