So, if that is the case, then most of the benefit from the latest point increases accrues to Hilton Corporate, not to the property owners. In fact, if a mundane property has too high a redemption rate, it is likely that they would have many more unsold room-nights per year and less total revenue.

I did a few 40k point redemptions this year and I'm glad I did because those properties I went to are now all 50k.
At this point we should all be used to it. Hilton always has a Double Points promotion going or some equivalent. It has been that way for years now.
What I take issue with is how the increases are so large. Why does it have to be a 10k point jump at once? Why not a few thousand points or 5k points or some smaller step up?
But the great news is there are still two NM properties at 10k. Lordsburg did not look like a place with much to offer; I drove through there but am glad I did not stay there... Deming on the other hand where I did stay, isn't a bad little town for a night or two. You can go cross into (a sleepy) small town in Mexico about 40 minutes down the road (park on US side and walk over it is like crossing a street aside from the border crossing part... but it isn't that busy of a crossing). Interesting little local history museum in Deming. Excellent Chinese restaurant downtown that closes early like 7 PM. Oh and the Hampton Inn was a fine hotel.

What happened to dynamic pricing when paying with points??
I now see plenty of hotels selling cheap weekend nights (+-100 EUR) for the same amount of points as their more expensive weekday nights (200-300 EUR)??

The location plays a role, and the hotel's value is now at 1c/p, which makes it a great deal. I hope they are smart and keep it that way. Even if they raise it to only 10k/night, the value becomes .5 c/p, which is average, and loses much of the appeal.
