And a high end property may have less guests who would spend money on food, drink, parking and other incidentals.

I did a few 40k point redemptions this year and I'm glad I did because those properties I went to are now all 50k.

At this point we should all be used to it. Hilton always has a Double Points promotion going or some equivalent. It has been that way for years now.

What I take issue with is how the increases are so large. Why does it have to be a 10k point jump at once? Why not a few thousand points or 5k points or some smaller step up?

But the great news is there are still two NM properties at 10k. Lordsburg did not look like a place with much to offer; I drove through there but am glad I did not stay there... Deming on the other hand where I did stay, isn't a bad little town for a night or two. You can go cross into (a sleepy) small town in Mexico about 40 minutes down the road (park on US side and walk over it is like crossing a street aside from the border crossing part... but it isn't that busy of a crossing). Interesting little local history museum in Deming. Excellent Chinese restaurant downtown that closes early like 7 PM. Oh and the Hampton Inn was a fine hotel.

Just be aware that I do not believe that any of the Hilton hotel properties in Egypt are all-inclusive anymore — except for Hilton Hurghada Resort, at which all-inclusive has always been an option for which you pay extra.

Also, don’t drive in Cairo. Trust me on this one...

I'd consider the 5k Bali Airport hotel if I wanted to be near Kuta or Jimbaran.

This is a pretty solid hotel. I’ll be checking it out again next month. I’ve heard it has a new Spanish GM.

30k? I think not. You often see these rooms selling for 550k++ per night. ($45 or so)

I have seen 86 EUR standard rooms (in another hotel) going for 50K points recently... Not that I booked them of course.

That's crazy high. ~0.2 CPP.

What happened to dynamic pricing when paying with points??
I now see plenty of hotels selling cheap weekend nights (+-100 EUR) for the same amount of points as their more expensive weekday nights (200-300 EUR)??

The problem is that not a lot of people going to Bali will stay at the airport, except for one night only.

The location plays a role, and the hotel's value is now at 1c/p, which makes it a great deal. I hope they are smart and keep it that way. Even if they raise it to only 10k/night, the value becomes .5 c/p, which is average, and loses much of the appeal.
