Non Refundable Points Booking

I want to cancel a non refundable points booking. Fully expect to lose the points but hotel say they will credit the points and charge me the room rate of Ä1400 😱.

If I check in using the app would they be able to tell I hadnít stayed ?

Will they be able to tell? More than likely yes. Will they care? Maybe, maybe not. Sounds like a very strange cancellation policy. I'd call corporate and talk to them. Sometimes the corporate agents will advocate on your behalf with the hotel.

If you talk to Honors you usually can forfeit the points instead of the cash.

Doing an App check-in is worthless unless the phone is used to physically unlock the room...

I've got a points reservation in NYC next week and this is in the cancellation policy when reviewing the reservation online:

No shows or cancellations of Reward Stay Reservations outside of the time frame set by the hotel's individual cancellation policy will be charged one night's room and tax at the hotel's Best Available Rate for that date.

Correct.

Both the hotel and Hilton Honors have said they canít just debit the points. Decided to stay after all, just concerned about getting back to the hotel after the match.

Points bookings can be used by an authorised party, so you could ask to add a friend to the reservation who can checkin even if you donít make it.

Wow, 1467 euros tomorrow night, even in the sale!! Next Saturday, 126 euros. Talk about inflating prices for special events!

If they will not let you cancel without the fee, possibly ask them to move the date to a time when you could use it?

I did stay in the end and it worked out fine. A friend who was staying further out and couldnít get back stayed the night. We managed to get the Metro back after the match.

Next morning met John Aldridge in reception (donít think heíd been to bed !)
