Upgrade from Ascend to Aspire.
 

How long has it taken anyone on here to be offered an upgrade. Not the pre-approval for a new Aspire card, but an upgrade?
I was told on chat you have to have your Ascend card for a full year before you are offered the upgrade!
But I am sure I have read otherwise.

it's not. At least for targeted upgrades. Family member had an upgrade offer appear around month 10 or 11. Upgraded before 2nd $95 AF hit.

it was a surpass->aspire though, so it could violate their regular policy.

Amex probably credited the time it was a Surpass towards the twelve months.

It's counted from when you got the card that you're upgrading.

In my case, I got an Ascend->Aspire upgrade just half a year or so after upgrading no-AF->Ascend, but: I'd had the no AF card for many years before that.

So the answer is different if you applied "from scratch" for the card you're trying to upgrade from, versus if you upgraded before and the total time you've had that card account is more than a year.

I counted that time in the 10-11 months.

now, maybe they "lost track of" the first 12 months card status since the card was changed in the system.

Weird thing happened yesterday, the button came up for me to upgrade my card. I hit the button, says one moment while we access your account. Then it says your card doesn't qualify! I don't get it.

Are people that are getting the upgrade offer getting the bonus points offer for new card holders ?

I got the bonus offer (150k points) on an upgrade in November. Not sure of the current status. To date I have gotten about $1600 in value out of the Aspire card, counting the bonus points. I expect it to be about half of that in future years, but $850 in annual benefits on a $450 annual fee works for me.

Likely a misinformed phone agent, but one told me I will never get an upgrade offer on my regular Hilton to Aspire because I'm an authorized user on multiple Aspire cards.. sounds BS?

I received the upgrade. Got my 150,000 points, diamond status but not the weekend cert.

Can anyone tell me how long that takes to get. I believe they said I would get it an e-mail.

Thanks for the data points. I guess I have several more weeks. I upgraded April 1.

Anyone know the criteria for getting an upgrade offer with the bonus points? Tab says upgrade, but no mention of any bonus points.
