What does this have to do with this thread about the 20,000 pt offer for $2,000 in spend? What 150 upgrade points? I've never heard of them before. 150 Hilton points are probably less than zero. I go to the supermarket and get 150 points for buying $25 worth of cereal and soda.

There are so many threads it's hard to find the one that could exactly answer your question, maybe someone can point you in the right direction.

I also got the 20,000 pts for $2,000 spend offer, but I have a question: I currently have an $800 credit on that account for something we had to cancel...does that mean I have to charge $2,800 to get the bonus since the first $800 will be zeroed out by the credit, or is it any $2,000 in new charges?
If you're going to use the card anyway, you can get this bonus AND any cash off Hilton stays, I don't think one excludes the other.

Nor do I. I even opened a chat with Amex asking of I could get in on this. After taking much longer than it should to make the rep understand it was NOT a new card sign up bonus but rather a targetted offer to existing cardmembers, he came back to say the emails were sent out only to selected members from the ‘back end’ and I obviously wasn’t selected. That is half an hour of my life I will never get back.

1.5 ur = 2.25% vs 13hp (Hilton pesos) = 5.2%. Hilton offer much better with this bonus vs Chase "other" category.
3 ur = 4.5% vs 16 hp = 6.4%. For me I'd still go with the ur for 3UR categories, because the 1.5cpp is much more flexible for me and like a lower limit cash value. And Chase UR have kept approximately the same minimum value over several years while hp have ~halved in value over that same time period.
For 5ur categories (Freedom 4q warehouse stores, Ink office supply and cell service), it's not even close with Chase worth 7.5%.

Upgraded one of my Ascends to Aspire tonight.
Specifically asked if the 20k-for-$2k-Spend targeted email bonus I'd just signed up for last week would "follow the card" from my old Ascend to my new Aspire. Since the account isn't closing, and the card number stays the same, my Amex CSR said the bonus-for-spend promo would remain on the card. So, signup 150k, plus the targeted Points-for-Spend opportunity was confirmed as being in effect on my new Aspire. (I haven't physically gotten the card yet, of course, but spend now will go towards the signup bonus requirement as well as the 20k-for-$2k-Spend requirement.)
Cool.
I was a 10-year Diamond already, and don't really need the airline credit, but... eh, I just wanted to fold all these Amex cards into a one-and-done account. I've been using PP lounges a bit more, so had used up the 10x I had on the Ascend after this last Asia trip (Yay, Inchon lounges!) Throw a couple nights and signup points into the mix, and I couldn't pass it up this year.

Rock for me. I already reached 60K on Aspire this year butbhave skiers Aspire spend way down as I’m paying mostly with a new Chase card. Maybe an email from Amex/Hilton might change be that???
