Hilton Garden Inn Rzeszow

Two night stay with average quality and some issues.

Ammending to would never return.  Came back to the room after dinner only to find the room stinking of second hand smoke via the a/c.  Any hotel that would inflict cancer causing agents on guests isn't worthy of consideration.  You think Poland of all places would recognize this.

Check In

Pleasant staff with quick check-in although I only saw one person ever at the desk so it might be long if many people show at the same time.

Service

As I've found in much of Poland this is hit or miss.  The women seem to be more friendly than the men.

One big issue is the room temperatures are high 25-26c at check-in and takes a few hours to cool with the lowest I could get was 21 at night.  I asked the front desk to have housekeeping close the drapes after cleaning to help keep the room cool.  When I returned the drapes were closed but the a/c was turned off and EVERY possible light was turned on.

Dining

Had dinner one night with pretty bland food and bland service.  Wouldn't eat here again.

Location

Attached to a large mall.  It's about a 0.8 mile walk to the center which is active and many places to eat and drink.

Overall

Here's my biggest issue - It's a smoking hotel and my room had a slight odor.  In place of a pen and pad of paper I got an ashtray.  The website does say it is a smoking hotel but it doesn't designate which floors are which.  Apparently 409 is smoking and probably one of the better rooms on the top floor in the corner.

If I were to stay here I would call ahead on the day of arrival and have them turn on the a/c and select a non smoking room.

We gad a great few nights here.
train from Krakow, taxi from station, but you could walk it- bit long. The centre is very pleasant, and quite inexpensive, great coffee and cake!

Upgraded to a large corner suite, which had pillars in the lounge, but was large with a large bathroom. Hotel was fairly quiet, and the shopping mall is very handy/ good food outlets/ you can get directly to it through the treatment rooms.

Good value for money, and definitely a better choice in the town.

I've stayed at this hotel multiple times. Never had a problem with the rooms. Except once, when I accidentally left the window cracked, and a bunch of mosquitos were hovering around the light fixture. I've eaten in the restaurant a number of times. The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. HOWEVER, it is very inexpensive (for a hotel). And thus, is a great value. And the staff has always been nice to me. In fact, I have had several long conversations with a few of them. To each his/her own I guess.

I have stayed here in September 2017 for three nights.
I think a slight upgrade was involved. The room was good, no smell of smoke (maybe we were just lucky?). Breakfast was good and better than, e.g., HGI Krakow Airport. Receptionists were friendly and welcoming.
However, we had a house-keeping issue: while the bath-room has been cleaned and towels changed, our beds remained untouched. We complained and they told us afterwards that this was a cultural misunderstanding. We left the pyjamas on our beds and this was understood as "don't touch the bed" - no idea. We toured 5 weeks through Poland, stayed mainly in HH affiliated hotels and the only time, this has happened again, was at the DT Krakow. They rectified the situation, i.e. made our bed, but then maintained that this has never occured after the house-keeping Manager arrived for inspection shortly after. I, personally, did not find the adjoining mall an asset. But that is probably just me.
Yes, Rzeszow is a pleasant town and the town centre is great. We walked downtown. The receptionist gave us a good and easy-to-follow description how to get there. Our favourite restaurant: 'Radosz'. Highly recommended for excellent food and quality service.

I also stayed at this hotel 3 or 4 times in the last couple of years. Never had problem with the smoke smell. Didn't have dinner in the hotel, but had breakfast few times. Food selection was better than in some full service Hilton properties around the world. I wish in US they would have the same offerings for breakfast at HGI.
My rooms were always clean, and I love the ability to open the windows. Always had pleasant experience with the hotel staff.
Hotel is fairly close to the castle and 3rd May street, but probably 20 minutes walk to the old market square. I always took taxi for dining options in the old town. It runs about $4 each way.
My favorite restaurant in Rzeszow is Bella Nuna. Every time I'm in Rzeszow I make sure to go there for dinner. The food is delicious (Italian-Polish fusion with the modern twist) and the staff are great. It's not the cheapest place in town, but well worth $25-30 per person (that's including the wine). Try to go in US to a fine dining restaurant for $25 per person This restaurant is located 3 minutes walking from the old market square.

One tip for the travelers staying in this hotel: Once I've ordered the taxi by calling 0 on the room phone, when I got to my destination I was quoted extra for ordering the taxi on the phone (not much, but still). So instead of ordering taxi via front desk, just leave the hotel and go left towards the mall's main entrance. There is a taxi stand, where taxis are always parked. The walk from hotel takes 30 seconds and you don't have to even cross the street.

20K now
Perhaps the 'situation' in the Ukraine meant the reimbursements got way too high, as rates were huge during the past months.

Hampton Krakw nw the only 10k left in the region.

I saw that a few days ago when I was looking at some future reservations. Hopefully, this hotel will be like many of the other 20K point hotels in Poland which often go for 11-12K points per night.

When the rates in Poland are under 200 PLN, I always pay the cash rate. However, when I do a 5-night stay, paying with points tends to be the better deal. Especially at the HI Krakow. We'll see how long that one will last.
