That's incorrect. You get 4PM checkout at Platinum level in the new scheme, which is 50 nights (75=Platinum Premier, which gets you 5 extra SNAs plus higher points earnings).

If late checkout is such an issue for some people would it not be easier to pursue a loyalty program that offers late checkout guaranteed than stay with one that does not. Each program has its good and bad points so I am sure Hilton stands out compared to its competitors in some areas and lacks in others like late checkout. In a way I hope they do not change it as I feel like I will be waiting for an upgraded room that has someone with late checkout in it till 4pm.

You have got to love the “fee” to. When they charge a fee (either late checkout or upgrade), what I’m hearing is so you’re saying it’s their is availability, and you’re refusing to give it as a benefit that the program says you do.
The rules are such that if they say they can’t because late checkout isn’t available then the * on that benefit come into play. But it really angers me when they say oh we can do it if you pay, just disregard your benefits. (Kind of like oh you can eat cold cereal for breakfast, or pay $9.99 to upgrade to the eggs.

I'm not sure why you are complaining. Late check out is not a listed benefit for Diamonds or Golds. To expect what is not promised is unrealistic.

Guess I'll stick with my Marriott/SPG Gold and Platinum 4pm guaranteed late check out then. Thanks but no thanks Hilton Diamond trial. Hilton Gold is good enough.
Through my 10+ different Hilton property experiences as both a Gold and a Diamond in USA and Asia, I definitely get the feeling there isn't a significant difference between Honors Gold vs Diamond elite treatment. A Hilton property will either treat all Gold/Dia elites indifferently (most USA hotels) or treat Gold/Dia elites equally well, including suite upgrades, 4pm late check out on request, Lounge access etc. (Most of the good treatment not surprisingly happens at Asian Hiltons with fewer elite guests)

I am hoping the new SPG Am Ex coming out next year has a premium card like the Hilton card and gives top teir status. I'll gladly pay $450 a year (especially if it has the airline credit benefit and free night like the Hilton card) for top status with SPG/Marriott.
I'm surprised you haven't noticed more of a difference between gold and diamond in Asia though. I've found outside of North American the treatment is much different. The lounges alone make a big difference and when I was in lima a couple months ago the breakfast benefit for golds wasn't that great but for diamonds it was order whatever you want off the menu.

To not read what is obviously there to be read is unrealistic.

It would make sense for Hilton to have a tier that requires 75-nights a year and offer benefits like guaranteed 4 p.m. checkout and priority for upgrades. Would be a great way to reward their loyal guests and keep diamonds who stay there a lot loyal if they know they will have a 4 pm checkout

Dont quote me on this. But I believe the Delta crossover is going away. They will still have their Marriott crossover (I don’t remember the exact name) with United. The eligible United members will get Marriott Gold which has a 2:00pm checkout *based on availability
