Hi, can you please kindly suggest which OWV villa do you stay in 700 row? I heard villa facing south (even numbers) is the best since you can see sunset? How about the furthest villa in the corner (villa 730)? does it offer complete privacy and is it regular OWV or grand OWV?
In terms of privacy I thin the odd numbers would probably be more private. There have been quite a few boats going back and forth between the main island and the private island since someone booked the private island starting today.

96 hours before is correct.
Those restrictions are if you are going to doha not transiting through doha

Funny you should ask. I am currently posting from the deck of 730 and watching the sunset last night was amazing.

there are a couple better threads for this that your question and my reply should be moved to:
I would say with a 99% certainty that adding a leg prior to your main trip would not pan out. My experience has strictly been on separate tickets though, so maybe I'm off. But if you fly say southwest or united to get to JFK and then hop on a Qatar flight, Qatar Airways won't care about your previous flights when you check in, they only care about the 72 hours prior to their flight.

Strongly suggest to take two PCR tests for redundancy. On the other Maldives thread a few people suggested the Pixel self test kit, me and my SO mailed our kit at the same time but mine was delayed a day by FedEx stuck in Tennessee, would have been denied boarding by QR as the results were not out when we checked in at LAX. We also took PCR test at Action Urgent Care clinic, they have multiple locations in the bay. Download the Kyla App to schedule the appointment. You drive in and take swab inside the car, tell them you need PCR for travel. We got our results within 2 hours after taking the test on a Sunday.

My trip is coming up fast and looking at room availability, i'll be in a 'standard' reef villa. Looking at maps etc its hard to see which ones to try and get into or avoid...
Perhaps avoid 325?? Also not sure if i'd prefer to have an external or lagoon view?
Anyone who has been in a reef villa care to share their views (and/or photos!?) please?
Went last year and was upgraded to Grand OWV 101 - pretty sure that won't be happening again. Thank you

There's an outcropping on the other side, and the view of the ocean from those villas includes bright runway lights from MLE at night (could even spot the airport beacon).
I checked the website just prior to my stay, and they were showing availability for every type of Grand Villa (Beach, reef, overwater). You could always offer 2-3K to upgrade (for 7-10 nights) and see if they bite.
Actually not 72 hours, according to their official website (https://www.qatarairways.com/en/visa...l)....it's "96 hours before departure of the first flight"

I stayed in 508 (standard reef) for a night, then 506 (grand reef) for 8 nights. In that area, the lagoon view is ok, the problem IMO is that they didn't keep up the island in the middle of the lagoon. So instead of a white sandy beach with palm trees, now you see a rockyish island with some shrubbery and a swing.

Sadly no availability for any 1 bed OWV or RV, only Grand BV. Only 2 queen bedded and don't fancy that. Looks like it's gonna be a busy week.

Interesting... when you were in 508/506 did you ever wish you were on the other side/missing out on anything? I don't know if to just let them allocate tbh as there doesn't seem to be a 'bad' standard RV to be fair.

If any villas had as good a view as at Amber, then I might've been inclined to move.

Finally got my points dispute resolved... well, as resolved as it can be...
Email came back in broken English, so tough to tell exactly how I was credited.
On a bill of ~$8700 pre tax and service fees, looks like I got points on ~$6400.
From the email "However, we have also received the information regarding your "package dinner" and the hotel team informed that the dinner package which was attached for availing half board credit in one of the reservation for which we have given the points and also as a special case Guests one night was booked via TA which also we have issue the points on extras"
So this confuses me. I booked one night at the Stella Maris through a travel agent, which included half board. We gave up the half board (which would have applied only at a select couple of restaurants) in favor of destination dining at the villa. So this makes it sound like they charged me to NOT use the half board credit? Was half board like a requirement where I go eat out and get half of it covered but I'm still expected to pay the rest??? I dunno, but it was a $300+ charge, so I plan to contact the hotel directly to figure it out.
Also, their message makes it sound like they gave me points for the destination dining even though it was on a night we booked with the travel agent, so if that's the case, then what charges are still excluded from earning points????
Anyways, its all very confusing, but I think I'm settling for the 191,000 points + the other 150,000 I'll earn from putting the bill on my Aspire card.

I also downloaded the Kyla app as you suggested and they asked some questions in the app. Most importantly when they asked if I have any symptoms or believe that I was exposed through someone who has a covid......I answered yes and a new pop up pages appears and said I am eligible to get tested at AUC Clinic in San Jose.
But one thing that I am concerned is when I checked AUC Clinic website (http://actionurgentcare.com/ActionUr..._Hamilton.html) it says that "ALERT: IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS OR HAVE CONFIRMED EXPSOURE TO COVID-19, YOU MUST CLICK THE "GET TREATED VIRTUALLY" BUTTON.
If you are NOT experiencing symptoms/confirmed exposure, you can get a COVID-19 test anytime by paying $95 at any Action Urgent Care clinic."
Since I choose that I possibly have exposure to Covid 19, I am afraid that they will require me to be treated "virtually" so it won't be a PCR test.
Did you just pay $95 for the test? I believe it's covered by insurance right?
We were in villa 725. Any villa facing out is amazing. The ones facing in will be looking in will have the private island in their site lines (to the side). It doesn't effect privacy that much, but I thought looking at ocean was more serene than half ocean with an island on the side. 711 - 737 odd numbers would probably be my top choice, though I imagine the 101-145 units are great also (i honestly never went over there).702-728 even numbers would probably be my least favorite OWV.

Our concierge told us we can have breakfast in villa for a $20 fee, given that breakfast is included already via your rate or Gold/Diamond member.
Dont worry about that, just follow the app to schedule your appointment. The other thing is if you chose insurance to pay instead of the $95 out of pocket fee, you will need to have a quick Zoom meeting with one of their nurse before confirming the appointment. Also, remember to mention you need PCR for travel when you arrive at the clinic for test.
Thanks for the suggestion for the PCR test clinic in the bay. I checked Action Urgent Care (AUC) Clinic website and it seems that their branches in East Bay is "temporarily telemedicine only". Only their branches in San Jose (South bay) area are accepting walk in or appointments.

Glad that you were able to get it mostly resolved! If you don't mind me asking (or PM if you'd like), what was the rate/agent for a night at the Stella Maris and do you think it's worth it to try?
#3629
Rate was posted here back in August, and at least one other FTer was able to take advantage. Unfortunately it is no longer available.
