:-: Welcome to the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi Wiki! :-:
Notes: All prices are in US Dollars and are exclusive of taxes unless specified (by ++)

Tax Information
• 10% Service Charge (levied by resort. For info on this and how it's distributed, see this post)
• 16% T-GST (Tourist Goods & Services Tax, levied by the Maldivian government, current as of Jan 1, 2023). Old 2022 rate was 12%.
• Total tax is 27.2%, not 26% as one would think. Example; $100 + 10% = $110, then add 16% on to $110 for a total of $127.20.
• Tip: To work out prices before the 27.2% taxes, multiply by 0.7862, i.e; 127.2 * 0.7862 = 100
• A Green Tax of $6pp/pn (levied by the Maldivian government) has been introduced starting from 1 November 2015. Points/Redemption bookings are exempt from the tax for up to two guests per room

Booking with points
• Bookings must be cancelled 30 days prior in order to avoid one full night's charge at BAR. (some days cancellation period is 14 days check your reservation details for the exact applicable cancellation policy)
• Website and phone agents state that a cash deposit equivalent to the BAR per night will be taken when booking stays with points. This is an error. NO CASH DEPOSIT IS TAKEN WHEN MAKING A POINTS BOOKING
• Free night certificate: The phone agent states that a cash deposit equivalent to the BAR per night will be taken when booking your free night. This is an error. NO CASH DEPOSIT IS TAKEN WHEN USING YOUR FREE NIGHT CERTIFICATE
This hotel is extremely popular. Rooms are released to be booked with points about 1 year in advance. It seems to be a partially manual process so it's not an exact science. After being released those rooms get booked within a matter of minutes. If you have specific dates you want you need to book them one at a time a year in advance, or risk booking last minute. Yes that makes it hard to use the 5th night free. You can book 5 individual nights and cancel them all to rebook getting the 5th night free, but there's only about a 50% chance the rooms go back into inventory so it's risky. There is no secret, just check Hilton.com all the time. If you don't want to do that, someone else will and they'll get the rooms.

• See this post for a detailed review of the yacht transfer (Courtesy of jphripjah)
• Third party transfers are not permitted by the resort.
• Transfer to / from Conrad Maldives Rangali Island: A private seaplane transfer from the Waldorf to the Conrad, taking approximately 25 minutes, is approximately USD 8,125++. Accommodation:
At opening the resort defined Beach Villas as the lowest category of accommodation (only this category bookable with points). The next highest category was Reef Villas then above that, the Overwater Villas. Note: villas on the Private Island do not count.
This will change in 2020. Quote from the resort "Please be informed that for next year we have changed our villa category. Kindly note that the Reef Villa will be our base category, next will be the Overwater Villa and then the Beach Villa. Basically the Beach Villa will be a higher category compared to reef Villa and Overwater Villa."
See this post for the conversation related to this. Pricing has changed as well to reflect this. See below for 2020 pricing.
Note that as of August 2019 the BV is still available to book on points in 2020. This may change, however.

I know it's still a great card to have for the credits and FNC but I have other priority cards and the bonus isn't at an ATH right now. Thanks in advance.
at Conrad Maldives they are happy to do this for the purposes of freer breakfast etc, esp if you have 2 rooms booked, but they won’t generally give benefits for 2 rooms if there is only. 1 status holder overall.

I thought that was a downgrade, we got a bottle of vintage Louis Roederer. Which was a bit odd choice, as it is not a label featuring much if at all on the menus. But I guess the separate what they sell from what they use for welcome gifts.

Hello all,

Just returned from a 5 day trip from WA Maldives. Happened to stay at the same villa 309 (as OMAAT, probably right after his departure). Must say that the resort is exceptional. Most of our observations are already captured in earlier reviews. But, I will confirm a few points.

1. Transfer: We lucked out, there are no other guests along with us (2 adults + 2 kids) during the transfer. The resort honored the 2021 rates for adults (650++) as mentioned in the confirmation email. Kids were still charged at 2022 prices. We don't drink alcohol, hence we were offered juices. They are canned juices in the Yacht, probably best to avoid if the ride is expected to be choppy and if you are prone to seasickness.

2. Room: We stayed in Villa 309. No upgrade was offered or requested from our side. Switched the welcome amenity (Wine bottle) with a non-alcoholic option. This Villa works well in terms of privacy, as there is a bridge to the left of the villa, hence an ample gap with villa 311. The resort is close to full from day 3 of the trip, probably noticeable only during breakfast and on the lagoon beach/water sports area. Otherwise, still very quiet. We have also experienced a splinters issue picked up from the deck. The response from management is very prompt, they sent a doctor to remove the splinters. Polished the deck and cleaned it immediately. As noted by another FT member, suggest using water shoes if you are getting into the water from the deck. It's very rocky and will be better to snorkel rather than walk to avoid damage to coral being developed.

3. Food/Beverages: When enquired, we were politely denied that items from the Kids menu are not complimentary for Diamond members. As a vegetarian, options would be limited from the menu. Chefs are happy to take custom requests and provide options outside of the menu. Didn't feel starved or running out of options. Enjoyed Mocktails/juices during the happy hour. Kids got french fries and we were offered nuts/dry fruits. Breakfast is excellent, able to request several items outside of Menu. Tried booking Yasmeen, but closed for private parties. only tried Peacock Alley and Li Long for Dinner. Otherwise stuck to In-villa Dining.

4. Photo Shoot: Output from the photoshoot is certainly not exceptional, not sure if it would have varied if we book a private photoshoot. We were prepared to negotiate for the entire photos package but ended up choosing only 30 photos out of 87. Paid 300++.

5. Spa: We didn't get any massages, but got 30 min complimentary use of the Hydrotherapy Pool. (each guest can use it once for 30 mins during the stay between 10 AM - 2 PM). Also used the complimentary Sauna and steam. Suggested to make reservations to avoid the crowd.

We have extensively used the bicycles (2 additional kids cycles were offered) to move around the resort. Used buggy on the day of arrival, departure, and once during the rain. The weather played very well. There was rain once during the night and once during the afternoon during our 5-day stay. Didn't feel any discrimination based on points booking, we didn't have any special occasion to celebrate though.

Happy to answer any specific questions.

Just wanted to check in on Kids Eat Free (my son will be under 2), wiki says this only applies for restaurant dining and not in room dining? Is that the case in peoples experience? Would be a bit annoying as every other luxury resort I’ve been to (IC/RC) they have allowed kids eat free in room, even if adults didn’t order.

What we were told is, Kids (under 4) will be able to eat free from the kid's menu if you are on a half board or full board package.

hello - super picky question here.

does anyone have any suggestions whether to request an overwater villa in the 700 series vs the 100 series? originally i was drawn to 725, 713 and 709 because these rooms seem to have the most expansive sandy bottom compared to other water villas (i know this is very relative since WA is not known for this, but these seem to suit us the "best"). in addition, the wind will blow from southwest in September (when we are going) so the northern facing 700 series will be a bit less exposed to wind making sitting on the deck a bit more comfortable.

issue is...i can't quite tell just how visible male and the male skyscrapers are from the 700 series, in addition to the ongoing dredging nearby which im sure isn't super pretty to look at either. honestly it doesn't look too bad in pics, but pics can be deceiving as everything feels a lot closer when you are there in real life.

i realize this is extremely picky but has anyone stayed in both that can compare? or, better yet, has anyone stayed in villas 107 and 113 that can provide pics of what the view was like from those rooms (esp. from a seafloor standpoint)? those would be the two we would request if staying in the 100 series.

thanks in advance.

A few old posts mentioned the steak sando is good at The Ledge. I didn’t see it in the most recent menu the resort emailed nor in the OMAAT review’s menu links. So I guess it’s peri peri chicken then.
