Consecutive 1-night reservations (cash & points)
I saw a couple of threads about back-to-back reservations but none pertained to my situation...I'll try to keep it short. I originally booked only one night with points (Saturday) for a "rumored" concert in a certain city. No problem. However, after the concert was officially announced, I wanted to add the Friday prior as well with points (wish I would've booked both nights together initially..but oh well). Anyway, there are now, of course,no reward nights available FRI-SUN at the hotel. So, I ended up booking the Friday prior, separately, with $ at the Honors discount rate.
Do you think I'll be able to stay in the same room even though I have two separate 1-night reservations, one with cash and the other with points? It's the same room config and I've been Gold since 2012. Also, would it better to bring this to the hotel's attention in advance or at check-in?
Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks jxd! Quick follow-up: Self Parking is $46...would I have to pay twice since there are two separate reservations? My first assumption is that it's up to the hotel but, again, if anyone has a past experience w/this scenario, any input would be greatly appreciated!

$46 is almost certainly the parking cost per night not per stay. You'll have to pay it for every night you are in the hotel, regardless of the number of separate reservations you made.

Sometimes I don't bother to email them in advance and I haven't had a problem with combining and staying in one room. Some hotels will make you technically check-in and check-out but they will block the same room for both days.

I've done this many times, and never emailed in advance. I'll mention it at check-in if I've already made them, but more often I get to the morning of check out, or a day before, make another reservation online, then drop by the front desk and ask them to link the two together and extend the keys. Only time I've had any issue was with some Chinese hotels booked through UK travel agents, where the front desk couldn't immediately see the new reservation. Even then, they called the hotel's reservations department and had it sorted within a few minutes.
The only real gotcha here is that they'll combine the two reservations into one stay credit, if that's important to you. This will happen even if you check out fully and back in to a different room.

It's actually better for the hotel to keep you in the same room. Generally speaking, "check out" rooms get a more thorough cleaning that "stayover" rooms. For example, most hotels don't change bed lines every day. So, keeping you in the same room costs the hotel less money. It's just a small amount of savings, but it does add up over time.
The only obstacle you might encounter is if you get checked into a room that is blocked (and therefore unavailable) the second night. However, the chances that will happen on a two-night stay is pretty slim.

No reason to email the hotel in advance. Just mention at check-in that you have a separate reservation for an add. night and the check-in agent will make sure you are in the same room. I have done this several times and no issues encountered. The following morning you stop by at front desk to have your key cards updated based on the second reservation.
I'm quite sure that you will have to pay 2x USD 46 for parking when staying 2 nights

Yes they can/will - before it was really bad as you would get no points whatsoever for the revenue stay (when combined with stay on points) but I believe that this has been fixed now.

And almost always, the parking rate will be per night. Rare exceptions would be how they do it in Atlantic City in many of the casino lots, where the parking payment is separate, and is based on when you leave the lot (in most cases). They don't care if you were there 1 hour or 1 month - you pay a set amount of whatever the going rate is at the time you leave the garage.

The Honors Terms and conditions are clear on this. A "stay" is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again.
