Yep. Since the OP was looking for valuation, here's a data point: just finished up 4 nights at the Conrad BKK and the difference between the rate we paid and the rack rate for what we were upgraded to was about $400/night for the nights we were there. For properties like the Maldives your upgrades will have even more "book value"...so your $316 was well spent.
