If this has not changed, you have at least 2 options to choose where to have your buffet breakfast - the lobby restaurant which has Western and Japanese foods on buffet offerings as well as healthy choices - there is a smoothie bar offers 5 or 6 freshly made smoothies with 2 stables and 3 changing every morning. I cannot think of anyone would go starving in this restaurant.
There is also a Gold / Diamond buffet set up on the 2nd floor where the hotel has an open concept of several restaurants - in the morning a part of the floor is set up for Gold/Diamond buffet - offerings are similar as downstairs sans the smoothie bar. This area needless to say is much quieter than downstairs.
Then if you have lounge access, you have a 3rd option to get your brekkie with limited choices than the 2 restaurants.

I was there last month. As Diamond, I had breakfast in the ground floor restaurant, which was excellent. Busy in the morning, but I always was escorted to a table. I also had b/f in the executive lounge, which does have an egg station, but more limited selection. I did not explore options on the second floor, but was told a Japanese breakfast is available but requires pre-booking. Hope this helps.

As a Gold, you'll have complimentary breakfast in the 1st floor buffet and when in an executive room or suite, the option of the lounge.
Although the lounge offerings are generally more limited, sodas, beers, bottled water, and champagne are available there vs a surcharge in the 1st floor. Also check the cubbyhole opposite the coffee machines on either side of the hallway for the full range of items. I found little cups of the wonderful potato salad on the far side up high.
Pictures from the 1st floor buffet. This is about 1/2 of the offerings. Do be sure to note the sign for French mustard by the egg station when you visit (it's French's yellow mustard not Dijon).

I'm looking to book a stay at both the Hilton Tokyo and Hilton Osaka next April, but it looks like both hotels haven't loaded any availability past March. Does anyone know if this is normal and/or how far in advance the hotel usually loads its inventory?

thank you restlessinRNO and rustykettel. exactly the info i needed to help make a decision. i'm just wondering if an exec room or even jr suite would be worth the cost over a king hilton or king deluxe and breakfast was one of the factors. access to that buffet is an amazing benefit for a measly gold member.

It's worth trying Japanese breakfast once. If you don't like it, you can always have standard one on other days.

Japanese breakfast is also available free of charge as alternative to standard breakfast. It just requires pre-booking due to limited number of spaces.
