The resort benefit on the Aspire card only works at the ~200 hotels on the list at this link:
http://www3.hilton.com/en/resorts/index.html#
For existing Surpass card holders, AMEX verbally confirmed that on or after 20 January 2018, card holders can call in and request cards be converted to Aspire - while maintaining the same credit card number, balance limits, PIN, etc.

For the Aspire card, the Annual Weekend Night Reward will be issued in the form of a redeemable code and sent in an email from Hilton Honors to the email address listed on your Hilton Honors account. You will receive the reward email within 8-14 weeks after opening your Card Account and each year within 8-14 weeks after your Card Account anniversary date. E-mail for Hilton providing the free night certificate has been received by several people..

Just got yet another email invitation to upgrade that we have been putting it off, but since we have a few expenses coming up, specifically a car insurance of $650 due on March 15, thinking may be we would bite this time. But if the new card takes its time to arrive we want to know if the spend AFTER upgrade approval would still be counted even using the old card.

Thanks for info.
I asked this question of Amex when upgrading from Ascend to Aspire, and they said I had to wait until my online account said Aspire (which it did in my case in less than a day after I did the upgrade online) before purchases made with my existing card would count. I presume this would be the same case on upgrades to Ascend, you'd want wait until your online account shows that your card is Ascend.

If I upgrade my no AF Hilton card to the Aspire, do I get a free weekend night right after upgrade, or I have to wait until the next renewal? I am 2 month into my second year for the no AF card. Thanks.

I upgraded my no-AF Hilton to Ascend, and then about half a year later upgraded that Ascend to Aspire, and got the free night certificate 2 or 3 months after upgrading to Aspire. I haven't gotten an AF bill for Aspire yet, so I think that shows that it's timed from the conversion.

Do Airline club charges count towards the airline credit? I see the JFK skyclub now has delta gift cards for sale, was thinking it would be easier to just go that route and buying one for $250 at the club than buying a bunch of $50 ones online since you can only use a couple at a time on a ticket purchase anyway.

off-topic, but you can use more than 3 GCs for Delta flights now, though you have to do it over the phone (from https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...card-faqs.html : "Up to 3 gift cards can be redeemed per transaction on delta.com. If you wish to redeem more than 3 cards for a single purchase, please call 1-800-221-1212 and a Reservations Specialist will be able to assist you." )

How do you get the free night? Does it come in email? Or is it visible when you log in to your account?

Edit-- my wife actually got an email indicating that she'll get a free night cert 4 weeks ago, which is about 3 months after she upgraded to Aspire. But when AMEX opened her Hilton card, they didn't use her existing HH account (which has 0 points anyway). But she never established online access to her new Hilton account that AMEX assigned. The email she got states that the free night cert would be sent to her email linked to her Hilton account in 8-14 weeks. Does it really take 8-14 weeks for the free night cert to actually come in the email? Since she never linked an email to her AMEX-assigned Hilton account, we are worried the cert will get lost somewhere.

Also, I upgraded my free Hilton card to Ascend about 36 hrs ago and it’s stull not showing on my account. In the past, other upgrades have been much faster. How long did this upgrade tie you?

Edit- my upgrade went through in a little under 48 hrs.

My certificate showed up in my e-mail about a day or two after I got the e-mail saying to expect it. No where near 8-14 weeks. I imagine Hilton will have a record of the certificate she calls with the Honors membership number associated with her Amex account.

I'm sure this has been discussed. I just called and upgraded my Ascend to the Aspire. She said it takes weeks in order to show that I am now a Diamond vs. my current gold status. What is everyone's experience with this? We are going to London in a month and I would love to have Diamond status. BTW I got the 150,000 bonus miles deal even though it was no where to be found on my account page and I never received an email.

Edit - by the next morning everything on my account was showing Diamond. Sort of silly that the Amex rep I spoke to said 8-12 weeks and she "never had seen it take less than 4".

I just needed someplace to post this, so I figured I'd do so here...met spend on the $4k and the 150k bonus was in the account a couple days later - not even aligned with a statement close. Nice!

Hilton IT is firing on all cylinders - it's been a well-oiled machine lately, just in time to capitalize on Marriott's problems.

What she said is worst case.

There are a few steps necessary.

First, your account online has to show Aspire, not Ascend, and show your Aspire benefits. (Don't start doing your minimum spend before your online account shows Aspire; spend done before that doesn't count towards the minimum spend per Amex.) That can take a few days (and the word Aspire may show first, and then the benefits might update only later).

Then they have to send the info to HH and that may take a few days. But most likely you will be showing as Diamond on HH within the next week, maybe two.

So I don't see any reason to be concerned if your first need of Diamond won't be for a month.

Seems like that 150k bonus would have been posted by Amex IT. That same Amex IT that still owes me 14x points on a resort stay in November... and the $250 resort credit, too. Can't say I am too impressed with them and their customer service at the moment.

Yeah but where it showed up, and where I saw it first, was in my honors account - so it obviously had to involve a Hilton platform. Of course both parties have to be involved to make it happen, duh. But my point was that, in generally, coming from many years of using Hilton's systems, in the past months there has been a marked step-change in the rate with which things show up, e.g. stay credits and points posting in <24 hours in some cases.
