Multiple hotels on the same night - which one gets credited?

I have some upcoming travel which is booked and prepaid. (A total of 12 nights).

I may need to be elsewhere on two of the nights during my trip.

I don't want to check out of the hotel I have booked, as I will be there for both the first and last nights of my stay, and it is all paid for. I'm obviously OK with losing the money paid for those nights.

What I do not want to happen, however, is for my two one-night stays to be credited and for me to lose the 12 nights' worth of points. Given that my shorter stays, if I go ahead with them, would credit before I have completed my longer stay, what logic does Hilton use to deterine whcih of the stays credits?

It should not matter. You should get the credits on both as if they are completely independent. The fact the overlap should not matter.

That contradicts a lot of what I have read on FlyerTalk.

That is not correct. You can only earn points/credit for one stay at a time. Normally, the stay with the lower amount of base points is what will post in the case of overlapping stays.

OP, I suggest that you reach out to the Honors Rep on here to ask for guidance about your situation to ensure that you get the points for the 12 night stay rather than the 2 night stay.

Book these two separate nights via third party like Expedia or other website or without HH account number/logon if possible?

That's the fallback and then reach out to the property about Diamond benefits.

This is absolutely incorrect unless you have a Mutual Fund account, which some of us are fortunate to hold. Even if you do, a call to the DD is necessary to get points for both stays posted correctly; I do this frequently.

Booking on Expedia or other OTA will (officially) prevent you from claiming Honors-Diamond benefits as the property now needs to pay commission fees to the OTAs.

Some properties do in nonetheless but I would not expect much.

For these "overlapping" requirements, I typically book under another program and avoid the hassles.

Thanks - I am thinking that might be the best way forward.

I have no status anywhere else, however, so at least by booking with an OTA I have nothing to lose in terms of recognition.

I had same issue before. I emailed HH to confirm that I would like the longer stay credited. You can not get credit for 2 stays on same nights. Drop them an email to confirm ^

Any chance someone is travelling with you? Book the shorter stays under their account and let them get credit. I find most systems will determine the least costly way to split up the credit and you have to fight to get it switched around. Some have reported booking for their spouse using the member's account and getting credit. That might be worth a shot but be prepared for the blow back if the property is up on their game.

May I ask what this is?

Edited to add: I found a thread about it: Hilton Honors Mutual Fund Accounts (No Longer Available): The Definitive Thread

As noted in that thread, the creation of these accounts ended many years ago but HH did allow mutual accounts that existed at the time to continue.
