Standard Room Awards now capacity controlled?

@HonorsRepresentative: Unfortunately this problem still persists when searching for standard room awards at Hilton Garden Inn Volgograd, Russia.

@HonorsRepresentative Hi, I've searched for months but never seem to find even 1 standard room available at the Hilton Sorrento (May/June 2018). I stayed there 3 years ago and there were plenty. Do such room even exist there anymore after recent Hilton award changes? Thank you.

I don't like this trend that I'm seeing across high end Hilton properties whereby they seem to manipulate award inventory so a person can't redeem for a standard award. The above examples certainly tell the tale but try booking the Grand Wailea or the Conrad Bora Bora. Just today I chatted with a rep who could find exactly 1 day in 2018 at the Conrad Bora Bora available for 80K despite many many days of the base room (King Garden View Suite) available for cash. I told the rep that this was not at all in the spirit of the Honors program. The rep agreed with me but said the resorts management can do whatever it wants with award inventory. As a longtime Diamond this makes me very upset. I hope Hilton can reign in these properties that love to fly the Hilton flag but not, you know, actually follow the rules of the program. What say you @HonorsRepresentative

Lauren,
Hilton is looking more and more like SPG - an alliance of hotels rather than a cohesive whole.
Case in point - Hilton Chongqing is selling STANDARD rooms throughout Nov at a fire sale rate of ~$65. But no STANDARD room availability at all with points.
Instead, I can pay the Premium points rate to book a PLUS room, with the only difference being a "higher floor." Even the photos look identical.
If this isn't the most obvious example of forcing Honors members not to redeem...

Is it acceptable for the only standard room award type to sleep one person? I understand that single occupancy rooms are going to exist, especially in Europe, but having the only standard award as single occupancy would not seem to be in keeping at least with the spirit of the program.
I don't have specifics at hand, but I have booked at other locations (Rome Boscolo or Hilton Stucky Venice perhaps) where single-occupancy rooms exist but the standard room award is at least a room type that sleeps two.

Conrad Singapore
I was looking at the Conrad in Singapore for a room in November but there is no standard award availiblilty. Something is wrong.... I can't see spending 136,000 points for a regular room.

Using flexible search more then half the days in Nov available for 60k, and even a few at 56k.

Hi all,
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention. Two quick updates...
Reichshof Hamburg, Curio Collection by Hilton has opened additional inventory of standard rooms. Hilton Chongqing is in the process of updating availability of their standard rooms - the changes should be reflective by the end of this week.
Thanks,
Lauren

What about the Grand Wailea that someone mentioned upstream? Their redemptions are off the charts ridiculous.

They set aside a puny amount of "garden view" rooms for standard redemptions. The next category of rooms, which only sells for $5 more, is then considered an "upgraded room" and not available for a standard award.
Glad to see that Lauren has some power to put the hammer down on offending hotels. This one needs to be next!

I totally agree! I find this hotel to be the worst one out of any of them for gaming the program.
