Adding my status to spouses reservation?

I tried searching but must not be using the proper key words to find what I'm looking for.

My wife has a decent amount of HHonors banked and we are planning on redeeming them on an upcoming trip. She however is Gold and I am Plat. Is there a way receive Plat benefits or is it strictly tied to booking members status? TIA.

1. No such thing as Plat for HHonors.

2. You cannot use your status if you aren't staying. She could book the room in your name and you could call the hotel and add your HH number.

Whoops got my programs mixed up. I'm diamond.
Yes we are staying together.
So if she books an award stay under her account/points we can add my Hilton number after booking to receive the higher tier benefits?

I was under the impression that the HHonors number cannot be changed if it is an award stay using someones points. This could be to reconcile where the points came from? Like you see your past stay history and the points deducted. It would be strange to see points deducted for a stay with no corresponding reservation as that reservation would in theory be associated with a different account number. Will make system audits a challenge.

Anyways, while it now cost to move points across accounts, pooling should soon be free https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/27845880-post1.html. When that happens, book under your own account and pool (pull) points from your wife's account. Then the stay should credit under you with your benefits.

She could book the room under your name instead. You have to call (not on website) to book an award room under someone else name. The email will come showing your name on the reservation. It will default to her status (gold) for benefits, but you could try to call and tell them your Diamond number and see if they will give you Diamond benefits.

I was traveling with a no-status friend a couple of weeks ago, and he made an award reservation from his account, but both added my name as second guest and added in the comments: "2nd guest, Mr. cblaisd, is a Diamond member, # 1234567. Req any avl Diamond upgrade. Thank you."

Worked great :)

It's usually best to have to guest with status make the reservation in their own name.

As mentioned, you can pool points for free - if not immediately then in the near future.

AFAIK, any effort to get Diamond benefits as a second listed guest is down to the generosity of the hotel rather than a published benefit. This, among other reasons, is in case the "second listed guest" doesn't actually show up and is just trying to pass along their benefits to somebody who isn't otherwise entitled.

The extra benefits of Diamond vs. Gold are limited, but you could also just leave things in the name of the Gold guest and do a DYKWIA if you don't get lounge access or whatever extra you might be hoping for.

Heh kind of interesting that actually worked because 2nd guest does not need to check in at all. :p Your friend could just keep your info and use it every time he book an award stay for himself LOL. If it doesn't work he is no worst off.

Look, if your wife is Gold it is hardly worth the efforts to try to get your HH D No. in the reservation in advance, you will not gain much by this. Let your wife make the booking in her name (it is easier and can be done online) and show your HH D card at check-in. Alternatively, your wife should call and book the room in your name and let the agent have your HH D No added to the booking as add. information as suggested above.

It can be changed if the front desk clerk wants to, but they will usually refuse.

You can add the diamond number manually as a note in the reservation but the system will still see the overall reservation as gold.

You are correct about the auditing problem.

o wow I must have missed that update, didn't know about the pooling. ^

I'll just wait for the update to go in effect and make the reservation then.

Thanks for providing your Honors number! If you don't mind, I'll put you down in the comments as my second guest. You might even get the points!

And what a coincidence they issued you such a patterned number and shorter than usual, too...easier to memorize!

A long time ago, Hilton allowed husband and wife to have a combined family HHONORS account. They discontinued this a few years ago, although I don't know if some people were grandfathered in from before.

I thought that also. Was informed in combined accounts thread that family accounts are back?

I have a similar situation

My husband and I are both Gold, but he will be downgraded to silver, come April 7th.

He has a business trip to Hilton Sydney in the summer and I read that Hilton Sydney has a very nice lounge. The question is the reservation is under his name and I just tag along. Will we be able to get gold benefit at check-in with my status?

Thanks,
