My NYC-CMB-MLE honeymoon trip is in 2 weeks!!

Thanks for the Crab tip. It's definitely on my list now!

We have 4 nights in CMB and 5 at the Conrad.

I haven't made any solid plans for Sri Lanka at all.

Any other recommendations, besides the Ministry of Crab of course!

If everything is billed to the room (incl seaplane cost), then technically the transaction will let you earn points if paid using a Hilton credit card right? Or are you saying it will appear as a separate line item called "SEAPLANE" on your credit card statement

A little confused by Wiki about this - it says it is ineligible for points, so I guess I should interpret it as

- ineligible for accrual of Hilton hotel points, as part of the Hilton hotel stay
- but, in fact, it is eligible for accrual of Hilton hotel points, if paid using a Hilton credit card e.g., Surpass?

Not sure if I am making sense here.

You're correct on all points, although I don't know exactly what, if at all, the seaplane transfer will appear as on your CC statement. Perhaps 'TMA Seaplane Transfer' or something like that but since it's tied to the room I guess it's not going to show up unless you ask to pay for it separately.

As for the wiki, it only pertains to the Hilton chain and the earning of points through the loyalty program, not banks and/or credit card companies which are separate entities and I guess have their own subfora here on FT.

I asked to prepay the seaplane transfer last year to mitigate forex risk and meet a min spend on a new card, it was billed to my card as Conrad Rangali.

I used the Australian Hilton Visa and points came through as Hillton spend.

At MF: Still looking forward to your insights on my "What to do" post, haven't gotten them via PM yet!

In the meantime my last post regarding the Conrad was our transfer from the resort back to the Airport and our time in the lounge there:

We had a great transfer experience and the Conrad was with us all the way through until we went through security.

Congrats!

You will need a booking at MOC though otherwise try Black Pepper which is only steps away.

I don't know what I would do for 4 nights in Colombo TBH so maybe head down to Galle and spend 2 or 3 nights there instead. At least getting to/from Galle involves mostly highway driving.

That's weird. I could've sworn the PM went through OK. NVM, I'll send again. Check your inbox in a few hours.

Edit: PM sent.

Since it's a honeymoon and all, why not extend your stay at Rangali and shorten it at CMB. You won't regret it. Personally I would do 1 / 8 or maybe 2 / 7.

Good, this is what I am trying to find out. So it doesnt count as hotel points gained from stay, but you still earn HH points bc the transaction is coded as Hilton and charged to a Hilton credit card

I thought the Surpass has foreign transaction fee?

I believe if the transaction charged is in USD (even if performed at foreign country), then the FTF doesnt apply.

No personal experience with Surpass specifically, but I think that's how Amex works.
