Hilton "10 Brands in Three Years" Mailing and Free Night Certificate

I received a small box from Hilton in the mail today. I recently qualified for Diamond for the first time, so I figured it was related to that - maybe a welcome letter or my Diamond card. But I nearly fell out of my chair when I opened the box and saw the following:

Hi Nirvana91,

Did you know that you've stayed at more than 10 of our hotel brands over the past 3 years? That's an impressive accomplishment and we think this calls for a celebration! Enjoy a free night stay on us, plus something sweet to ring in the new year.

Enclosed was a certificate for a free night (it appears to be good any day of the week, not just the weekend), and some chocolates.

Honestly, I have been pretty underwhelmed with the in-hotel benefits of both Gold and Diamond status, but I must admit that this little package was nice and definitely improves my opinion of Hilton as a whole.

Good for you! Congrats on the cert!

I'd love to receive this, of course...As we all would. But even with my first (and probably last) stay at a Home2 last week, I've only hit about 7 brands in the last 3 years (and have been Diamond for 6 straight).

Congrats! I just counted and I'm at 9. Oddly, I've never stayed at a Waldorf Astoria or Conrad, and there's no tru hotels yet to stay in.

Thanks all, I didn't realize that this was even a thing, otherwise I probably would have been purposely trying for it. At this point I think I have 11 of 13, only missing Canopy and Tru.

I never knew this was a thing! I just counted, and with my recent stay at a Curio hotel, I'm at 10 as well...wonder if I'll be getting my box in the mail! :-)

No Curio, Tru or Canopy for me...Ever. If they go back three years and 2 months, I will actually get 10 brands...But not 10 brands in the last 365 X 3 or in the 2014/2015/2016 calendar years.

Had I known, I too would have made an effort...But HH is good at these surprise bonuses. Some I get, some I don't, but good on those that do, even when I don't--if that makes any sense!

I also noticed that it says "more than" 10 brands, and I do have 11 of 13. So I am unsure if it is actually triggered by 11.

I think I've been to them all at this point other than TRU, and probably 10 in the last year alone - nailed down the very first Canopy in Iceland a couple months ago, Home2Suite'd in San Antonio early this year, Waldorf in Maui, and of course the normal Hampton/HGI/Hilton/ES/DT's everywhere.

That's 8...

Maybe I haven't done Curio. Ha! Wait, I stayed at the SLS Vegas at the tail end of 2015 when it was a Curio... 9.

Homewood in SLC and other places... 10.

What's missing? Oh yeah, HGVC. Did that in Vegas. That's 11...

TRU, I'm sure I'll find some reason to be in the Oklahoma City airport, but it isn't open yet.

I'm not sure if I have been to a Conrad in the last 3 years though. It's been a while since I stayed at the Indianapolis one.

I guess I'll look out for a gift box - that would be awesome!

"More than 10" basically means they expect you to stay at every brand except Canopy (only in Iceland right now) and Tru (not open anywhere yet).

I got a box of chocolate like that from Hilton Hhonnors a few weeks ago. Assumed a Christmas Gift...looks like I threw a free night stay out with the rubbish.

Bump to ask: anyone else get one of these letters?

i was kinda pleasantly looking forward to my own, as I've done the same tour de hotels as the original poster, put it in "wait and see" mode, but nothing so far.

Nirvana91, any demographics you could share - are you U.S. based, years Diamond, etc.? Hilton can be so rewarding to some/exclusionary to others on offers and we never know why.
