E check in pre authorisation
Hi all
Recently stayed at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead. Had two rooms booked and pre paid both of them. Checked in using the android app e-checkin After checking out and looking at my amex account it showed 5 pending transactions for £50 each. Now I can understand having 2 x £50 transactions incase I charged anything to the two rooms but 5?!?! This hotel is renowned for bad service and bad example of a Hilton hotel and the director there refuses to explain why there are 5 and she is saying it's normal but I know it's not as someone else at the hotel said they're shouldn't be 5. I also emailed the diamond desk 3 days ago about it and they said they will investigate with no reply yet. It's been a right inconvenience as had to ring amex several times and emails back n forth between hotel with no explanation. It's pretty worrying why 5 pre authorisations were taken. Anyone had anything similar to my issue? Thanks |
I've had two instead of one. Don't remember which hotel.
I've had a hotel pre-authorise for the price of the stay ( on a pre-paid stay). I've had hotels pre-authorise big amounts of money ( depends on lenght of stay/amount of rooms/fanciness of hotel). But all pre-authorisations (e-checkin/ desk checkin) dissappear after a month automatically so I wasn't worried. And they dissappear sooner if there is anything to bill you for. |
How many people were staying/registered in the two rooms? How many nights?
As noted by Helosc, I've had many different types and amounts of preauthorizations, most disappear much quicker than a month but sometimes a few linger. |
2 people each room for 1 night

For me Pre-authorisations used to disappear faster than they do now.
For the last half year or so it has been a month - I can even see the date it 'expires' in my bank app/online banking. Maybe it's my bank..... If I have incidentals the whole pre-authorisation amount disappears when I am charged for the incidentials. PS: I have never been actually charged too much of money in connection with pre-authorisation. |
