Anyone else getting Gold for no reason?

I haven't had a Hilton CC since mid-2014, haven't earned more than 500-1000 pts since that time, only been burning them. And yet I just got an email saying I qualified for Gold for 2016. I do have a 170k balance still.

Is this just a random mistake or anyone else get this?

I just got an email congratulating me for earning Diamond for 2016, of course I did that back in October.

I'm guessing that this is another Hilton IT faux pas.

- I also got my congratulatory Diamond 2016 e-mail about 1 hr ago. Similarly, I did re-qualify back in October and only manage to pull out 1 stay with HHonors since then. Instead, I was focusing on enjoying SPG program before the dreadful merger - 12 stays and 23 nights so far this year.

Yeah, got my congrats on making Diamond 2016 as well. Probably has to do with the status running through March (at least it did back in 2014 when they sent me my last Diamond card, even though I was Diamond last year too)

Just got the same email congratulating me on successfully renewing gold status. I had exactly zero stays all of 2015 and 2016.

Interesting, must be either IT glitch or a subtle way to encourage stays from those who dumped them after devaluation

Maybe.

For most of the past two years I mostly stayed in IHG and Accor hotels for business trips, not once did I set foot in a Hilton property.

I didn't laugh out loud, but I did chuckle audibly. Thanks.
