Recent topic

Was recently discussed here, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=376162.

I never got around to asking for the codes for my situation, as someone in that thread suggested.

Are there any?... or does anyone have access and want to share Hilton discount, corporate, or promotion codes.

codes...

A basic google search for Hilton "corporate rate" usually yields quite a few corporate rate codes. I've never found any that are all that great, but it's worth taking a look if you're paying rack rates.

Try Si1 which is I belive a 21 day advance purchase, not always available but sometimes nets a 15-20% discount.

Try this suggestion for some HH nicer rates. After you get to the page listing your desired rates, look a few inches upward to where it sez Select Your Room and Rate:

"The rooms and rates that best match your preferences appear below. Select the room you'd like to reserve and click "continue", or you may view all rates ..........."

Click the view all rates link and quite often cheaper legit rates will list.

No codes, but here's what I do

I don't have any codes for Hilton.com, but here's what I do.

Mon-Thurs nights I check out what's available under "view all rates" and compare to Govt/Military. If Govt/Military is the best rate and is still available, call the hotel direct, admit you're not Govt/Military and ask for that rate. This rate reminds me of airline award seats--available far in advance, not available for awhile, and opens up shortly before arrival if hotel is not full.

Fri, Sat, Sun, holidays I compare hilton.com rate to Travelocity and/or Orbitz. Sometimes they are $10 or more cheaper, but you're not eligible for hhonors points/stays credits. Forget about asking for the $50 "Our best rates Guaranteed" offer, I've found the rate is often worded slightly differently than the one at Hilton.com, so it's not eligible for the $50 cheque. You will have to pay the extra $10 or so to get stay & points credit.

Just looked at booking in Malaysia and tried the codes listed.

Gov't same as no selection
AAA/AARP - nothing
SE - nothing

Any ideas?

Why are the Marriott folks so sharing with discounts?

No Stress

I book the same hilton hotels over and over, and I've done some of the Marriott code checking too and I really don't think hilton's codes work the same way.

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my corporate codes are unique to each property; I got them from managers after we did away with direct billing (from the properties giving us discounts)

the 21-day discount has showed up for me automatically when I've booked 21 days or more; otherwise I research and then call & haggle for the rate I want (usually the gov't rate, competitor's rate or rates for far in advance); also, once I've gotten a discounted rate, I note the person's name I haggled w/ and call them for the rate for all future ressies, even if just one night & have never had them say 'no'

my husband spoke w/ someone recently at a hilton resort (100% capacity) that said he always haggles before he'll just check-in and has been justly rewarded w/ up to 75% off his original rate, but during low capacity

if you're really intent on this, call & haggle for just a night or two - my dad probably haggles with the girl scouts over cookie prices!

Often when checking into a HGI, HI or HS I could overhear the front desk staff talking on the telephone with an obvious haggler (these hotel FD people do a lotta jobs). The haggler never seemed to get anywhere as I overheard the hotels side of the conversation.

The hotel occupancy rate is MUCH higher than a year ago, 2 years ago etc. The hotel industry doesnt need to reduce pricing to get customers. Also they can PL excess rooms and maintain normal rates (I think that is what Hyatt does big time).

cool, a good code for 20% discount on at least two hotels I checked. I had booked elsewhere, but might switch back to Hilton with this rate.

Once the only rate I pulled up online was way out of line with expectations. I called the hotel and found out it was the presidential suite... the only king bedded room left. Checking back online I found a normal looking rate was available if "view all rates" was selected. Decided that a king bed wasn't worth a few hundred extra for the night.
