I have a stay this week at HGVC Flamingo. Staff told me they are not doing upgrades anymore. I have e-mailed the GM.
There are no posts in this thread since last year. Can anyone report more recent experiences on upgrades? Flamingo specific most helpful.

I never saw anyone reply. Did you have a good experience?
I am staying at the HGVC Flamingo this week-end and I am a Diamond member.
How was your stay? I have stayed previously at the HGVC on the strip. I liked it but it was a hike ...
I was able to use points this week-end at the HGVC Flamingo.
Thanks,

I was upgraded, as usual, at the HGVC Flamingo to a one bedroom suite in early June. I am Diamond, so YMMV.

Quic Question regarding the LV Hilton.
I believe I read differing facts somewhere on what is needed to get the free day access to the spa at the LV Hilton. I think I had read at different times a Gold Card is needed, and I also think I had read someplace a silver level card gets you the access. Anyone know for sure and have a definite answer?
Thanks!

Any updates on this thread? Going in August. Looking for one Saturday night stay prior to checking in at the MGM for the promo...
Do they both give the traditional manager's reception? Some of the ES properties give coupons limiting the drinks one can get.

I just came back from Vegas this past weekend.
I, however, own HGVC and stayed at the HGVC Flamingo location.
I highly recommend it! I'm not sure if it's available so close to your date, but it is central strip and you'll have a full kitchen and BBQ grills at the pool. They give you plenty of coupons to use at the Flamingo Hotel for $5 brunch buffet, etc.

At HGVC Las Vegas Hilton this past week, I was informed upgrades had ceased "months ago"; I would receive 2000 points instead. Sure enough, the stay posted with 2000 points as my "HGVC MyWay" option.

Las Vegas on points for NYE : ES CC or Hilton?
Hi,
I have read various threads the search let me find, and I am still undecided as to where to stay for New Year's Eve stay in Las Vegas.
I'll be using points as the going rate are much higher than the usual discounted price : I guess I am not the only one thinking of getting to Las Vegas for New Year.
Which one would you choose for what is obviously a leisure trip. I've never been to Las Vegas, I am hostile to renting a car if it can be avoided.

Personally if this your first trip to Vegas I would not go on New Years Eve
its not what it appears on TV... but if you insist.. anywhere OFF the Strip is much better . The Las Vegas Hilton has the best view of your choices for the fireworks.

Las Vegas Hilton is off the strip but have a monorail service connecting the property to properties on the strip... You have to walk from Embassy Suites to the nearest monorail station which could be a pretty good walk... it may look close on the map but everything is really spread out. You don't want to rely on ground transportation because traffic can be a nightmare especially on NYE which make the monorail really ideal. Also the breakfast is better at the Hilton in Vegas and free if your Gold or Diamond. The only advantage of ES is larger room and if you get the larger suite with the balcony facing the strip which is very very very few and might already be reserved for that night. If you end up staying at the Hilton, bring your HHonors card if your silver or higher... it comes in really handy at this property.
If your not renting a car, the Las Vegas Hilton is also a great option since Las Vegas RTC (local bus) Bus number 108 runs every 20 to 30 minutes from LAS (pick up at "0" level by the limos and hotel shuttle... make a right when exit the airport and walk toward the bus stop). The bus drops off in front of the Las Vegas Hilton and picks up for the return trip back to the airport across the street in front of the new hotel next to the AMPM. The bus is $1.75 and the ride is 25 minutes (in normal traffic) vs the airport shuttles which cost $6 each way and takes anywhere from 40minutes to an hour since the Hilton is always the last stop.

Sad Las Vegas Hilton observation
Stayed there on a weeknight, two weeks ago. Rate was so-so ($90), but what was appalling was the lack of panache. The place wasn't very heavily booked-- both the casino and general areas such as the pool, breakfast and lobbies weren't the usual mob scene. The welcome was lukewarm, with a phony story about being upgraded to a "remodeled" room (as a Diamond, I've usually gotten the big rooms that face the front, and boy was this a letdown). The room wasn't upgraded: in fact it wasn't renovated. It had ugly grout and was pretty lackluster. The bed was fine, but hey, that's the standard these days.
I thought about complaining, but with a 14 hour stay until the next day, why bother. Still, it frosted me that they were trying to claim upgrades that weren't.
The housekeeping was atrocious. Our clock was set to 5am instead of 5pm, leaving some unsuspecting guest to miss his early flight when he set the alarm after a drink or two late at night (I have those drinks, but I long ago learned not to trust housekeeping anywhere). Instead of shorting us on a robe (the usual trick here where you have a room for two booked) we got no robes (Mrs. SST won't stand for it and calls every time. They showed in about 15 minutes).
Tired, worn out public spaces, no recognition, careless service, and a beat up room. Sorry, but my many years of staying here may have just come to an end. It was a relief to check in elsewhere. Perhaps I'll try the Flamingo again sometime simply for stay credit, but for now, it's off to better digs.

I'm going to chime in on SST's coat tails. I'm at the LV Hilton right now and just came from the Resorts Club lounge. A nice european couple came in and were looking for some cereal for breakfast. It was about 10:45am. The gentleman found the stored cereal in the cabinet under the fresh fruit. He was scolded by the woman at the reception desk and told breakfast was over at 10am and he wasn't to be taking the cereal. She relented and "allowed" him to have the cereal - but considering people PAY to be in this lounge, I would be incensed had this happened to me.
Sure, you can put breakfast cereals away after hours, but if someone wants a 2 oz box of corn flakes, are you really going to berate a guest over it?
