What's Up With Vegas?

Tried to make a reservation in Vegas today and was told that for the last three days Vegas is refusing to allow over-rides for diamond members in any of their properties.

I have to call Diamond Customer Service tomorrow to see if they can help. This is most disconcerting as Vegas is one of the locations where I work most often.

Well today I was told by the Diamond Special Services agent that all the Vegas properties, i.e., Flamingo, Bally's, Paris, and (according to corporate) the Hilton are out of the program.

I then talked directly with the Hilton Las Vegas and they assured me that they were not out yet.....(whatever that means). So, I have all of the rooms I need, booked at the Hilton, which is not very romantic or exciting, but at least close to work (the convention center). Sadly, I am just a boring working girl as compared to our dashing friend QuietLion who makes Vegas looks romantic and exciting.

Hey, QL, do you wear your spiffy new tux in Vegas? When we are there for a show, we just have to wear jeans.

Punki - I will be there the first week of Feb - for the National Automobile Dealers Association convention - just wanted to warn you that there will be thousands of car dealers in town

My schedule will be pretty much non-stop, but I absolutely have to meet you if there's any way we can work it out!

Flamingo has dropped the Hitlon name and Bally's, Paris, and Caesar's never had it. Caesar's is actually affilited with Starwood to a degree. All are owned by Hilton's parent company Park Place Entertainment.

The LV Hilton was supposed to be sold to California developer Ed Roski but the deal fell through so it's still a Hilton.

Punki,

According to an email I received from Adam Burke this week, all of the "removals" of hotels from HHonors may not as yet be so hard and fast. Bally's and Paris may indeed still be in the fold, though how much longer remains to be seen. Suggest sending him a quick email to see if he can help you, as he's very responsive and helpful to HHonors questions and problems. Email me for his email address if you need it.

Just stayed at the LV Hilton. I believe they have a new theme there: Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed.

I've only been a Diamond for a couple of years, so what are the amenities? You get an upgraded room (that's new tile in the bathroom), and we'll arrange for a USA Today to be delivered to your room (he arranged that on checkin, but I'm still looking for the paper), and you get the bonus points. I've stayed at all of the Hiltons in town and, with the departure of Bally's and the Flamingo, now I'm gone.

I tried the DoubleTree on Warm Springs (apart from its proximity to the Strip and absence of a casino) and the standard of service and follow through was outstanding; I found a new home.

I have a reservation at LV Hilton early in February.

I made it on their website and later called the reservation #. The woman I spoke to said that they are still in Hilton HHonors..

My stay at Paris last week was credited in a few days.

But if you go to the Park Place website, you can see the future calendar and pick out the really cheap nights.

The Las Vegas Hilton as well as Starwood affiliated Caesars both have a reall attitude towards recognizing the benefits of those respective programs. I believe it is because they have their own list of "big dollar" clients that are heavy casino users. Couple that with the fact they always carry a high capacity and you get a "I don't care"....IMHO

I just had two stays (last week) at the Flamingo, rec'd my points etc. The question is I have a Feb 8th reservation at The Flamingo, will they still be Hh then or should I move over to the Embassy suites to ensure credit? I will say that both Embassy Suites on Paradise are pretty good.. Any comments?

Stayed at Las Vegas Hilton (LVH) last week. Stay was posted to HHonors with bonus. Got a room upgrade to boot (Hilton Gold) and THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY. Lost reservation from Hilton.com (at more than $75 per night), rebooked me into hotel for $36 per night and gave me a suite! (OK they were probably empty as CES had just left).

The rest of Park Places hotels are either Out or headed out of HHonors, according to the front desk at LVH.
