Arrow Hilton Nanjing {CHN}

Nanjing Hilton
Beautifully appointed room on the top floor, spatially enhanced by the most generous ceiling height. Apologies for the photos - taken moments before checking out so the room wasn’t in a particularly presentable state.

Impeccable service throughout this stay. Excellent range of breakfast options in the Executive Lounge one floor down.

Hilton Nanjing

No. 100 Middle Jiangdong Road Nanjing, CN 210019

Review: Hilton Nanjing (14 Photos)

Hilton Nanjing

Hilton Nanjing is conveniently located just 2 minutes by foot from JiQingMenDaJie metro station (exit 5) on line 2. Nanjing Lukou Airport is around 30 minutes away by car (just under RMB 150 by taxi).

Lobby:

On arrival, I was escorted from the front desk in the lobby to the Executive Lounge for check-in. Key card access is required to access the 26th floor in the lift, so if you want to go to the Executive Lounge to check-in, you will need to speak to a member of staff at the front desk/concierge.

Lift lobby:

Room

As a Hilton HHonors Diamond member, I was upgraded from a standard room to an Executive room. The room was clean and comfortable. Wifi speed was okay. There was a welcome bowl of fruit in the room. I did not receive a welcome letter.

Although it overlooked the main road (Jiangdong Road), it was not too noisy and I was able to sleep at night. View from the room:

Executive Lounge

The Executive Lounge is open from 6:30am to 11pm. On arrival, I was escorted from the front desk in the lobby to the Executive Lounge for check-in. A few hot and cold dishes, as well as drinks, are served during Happy Hour from 6 to 8pm in the Executive Lounge.

Breakfast

Executive floor guests and Hilton HHonors Diamond members can have complimentary buffet breakfast either in the Executive Lounge or in The Square restaurant on the ground floor (which has a wider range of food). In The Square, a range of dishes were available made-to-order, such as noodles, dumplings and eggs. I particularly enjoyed the freshly made meat dumplings.

Facilities

The fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and spa are situated on the 5th floor. The fitness centre is open 24/7 and the swimming pool from 6am to 10:30pm.

Overall

Service was generally good. Staff were friendly and willing to help.

However, during my stay, I had an unhappy experience after taking a taxi with a hot meter from the hotel. The price was suspiciously high for the journey and no receipt was given (taxi drivers in Nanjing usually proactively provide a receipt when you pay at the end of the journey). My suspicions were confirmed when the price for the return journey was much lower. Later, when I again wanted to take a taxi from the hotel, I realised that the same taxi driver with the hot meter was waiting outside the hotel. I refused to get on his taxi and spoke to the concierge about this particular unscrupulous driver targeting guests from Hilton Nanjing. The concierge helped me to call another taxi to the hotel to pick me up.

Nonetheless, overall, I had an enjoyable stay at Hilton Nanjing.

Just stayed there all last week. Had similar room but as for the quality of the service and selection in the lounge for breakfast I would have to disagree.

Lounge is a nice place (see pics in previous post) but the selection for breakfast is not wonderful. Compared to somewhere like to the Hilton Shanghai this place is a dead last. There's enough OJ in the fridge for maybe 2 glass's if you are lucky. Small selection of hot and cold dish's. Now you can order some hot side dish's like eggs anyway you want. Go downstairs but there dont expect to find any OJ, you got to ask. And if you like your OJ better ask for a large glass. The only good thing about the lounge are the soft drinks are free. Downstairs they try and charge you. Happy hour they insisted to pour my beer for me and the food was always gone. It wasnt a busy lounge either, they just dont put large portions out. But I will give them this, happy hour for drinks apparently lasts until 11pm I was told by the staff 2 nights running. So at least you can drown in your sorrows for the lack of food and service.

I found the staff to not be great, I always felt that being guest I was work for them. They rather do nothing (breakfast room, lounge, front desk). Even asking for an OJ you could see the expression on their face "what the hell does he want".

Overall not the best Hilton I been to.

One good point, location. 100m from Metro Line 2 and theres huge shopping area with tons of places to eat outside.

Sorry to hear that your experience was different. Soft drinks and beer (but not wine/spirits) are available in the Executive Lounge after the end of Happy Hour at 8pm until the lounge closes at 11pm. Although there wasn't a jug of orange juice to which you could help yourself at breakfast in 'The Square' restaurant, the staff in the restaurant were very happy to re-fill my glass with orange juice whenever I asked.

Anyone stay here recently. I'm considering a stay when visiting Nanjing for tourism and nightlife. The location is decent for that? Will golds have a good shot of getting lounge access?

Hello,

I am planning a trip to China in August with my family(group of 4).
Would you recommend this property or the Hilton Nanjing Riverside?
Rates are very similar.

Thanks,

@more4less: as you are a group of 4, I imagine you will probably take a taxi to get around, in which case the lack of metro for Hilton Nanjing Riverside isn't too much of a problem. Both properties are situated a bit outside the city centre. Hilton Nanjing Riverside is located in a more tranquil area by the river, with more pleasant surroundings. For a fuller comparison, see my review of Hilton Nanjing Riverside from 2 years ago in the FT thread for that property.
