The Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood, Curio Collection by Hilton {US-FL}
Just thought it might be of interest to some in this forum ... There is an ongoing discussion in the SPG forum about the Westin Diplomat recently being purchased, and announcing that they are changing flags to Hilton HHonors at the end of October.
The SPG thread is continuing from here:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/23451148-post725.html
To those who are not familiar with this property, this is a wonderful resort that was well loved to many from SPG -- they have a very nice multi-level pool, and were well known to treat their SPG Platinums very well [liberal upgrades, good lounge, etc].
Per news stories, the new owners look to be investing a lot of money into the property, so this will probably be a very nice addition to Hilton.
Also interesting that this will be under the Curio Collection.
You can see the old website for this property here: http://www.diplomatresort.com

Oh wow. I love this property. I've been there a few times. I hope the level of service remains the same. That was one of the things that really set it apart. Great beach and great resort pools.

The Diplomat is my favorite SPG property in South Florida, so I am glad to be able to continue enjoying it as a HH Diamond
SPG Plats are often upgraded to suites, and I particularly like their corner suites - we'll see how they will be treating Diamonds

I stayed here with my wife and one year old back two years ago in a Diplomat Suite with Club access. I have to admit this is by far my favorite hotel in south Florida even trumping the Bentley in Miami Beach. The multi level pool, the incredible Club Lounge to the workout facility. This is a monstrosity of a hotel but so well worth it. I can't wait to go back when the turnover becomes complete.

It looks like the club lounge at this property will become a distant memory after the conversion from Westin to Curio. All of the room types are online, and there is no mention of the club lounge. Very disappointing. It will be interesting to see what the breakfast offering is.

Coming Soon: Diplomat Resort & Spa (a Curio Collection hotel) in Hollywood, FL
Club Level rooms are bookable on Westin/Starwood site. Until the formal switchover next week, though, nobody will commit to future status of the lounge.
It is strange that Hilton does not offer any Club Level rooms at the Diplomat.

When is the switch happening? I'm not seeing availability for any room type on the night of 11/04 on the Curio Collection website... that said, it would have to be a pretty low rate as I currently have the Hilton Marina booked for $62 for that night.

Diplomat Resort is now fully represented on Hilton's Curio site.

If checking rates, be sure to also look at www.diplomatresort.com before 10.30.2014, as room rates vary between Hilton and Starwood booking engines.

The hotel will be undergoing $100 mil in improvements, including adding two new restaurants and a refurb of all guest rooms.

One of the major complaints is that there is a lack of dining choices onsite, including an all-day, casual dining restaurant, with moderate price points.

I have a res here for 2-nights in late-December ($127/night on a corp code). Any reports on the breakfast amenity for Gold/Diamond? And is there still an operating lounge after the conversion to Curio?
This will be my second Curio Collection stay... hopefully it's MUCH better than the SLS Las Vegas which was a HUGE letdown.
