I had a couple of stays here. Just after Christmas, and then on New Years day.

Given the many missed bookings from when the room was supposed to be ready, I'm sure we got a bit more complimentary stuff than the norm in the room.

We were escorted up to the Executive lounge, and the Director of Operations for the hotel, Herman, joined us soon, and was quite helpful. I had a booking the month before, that was supposed to be a birthday stay, for my youngest daughter, but unfortunately the room hadn't been completed then. This booking was for my oldest daughter, and Herman graciously comped a dinner for us.

The suite is split into two sections. The residential section, is to the left off of the entryway, and the living/dining/kitchen to the right, each with it's own separate door. There is small sofa in the entryway.

There was a fabulous fruit basket, and so many sweets and such that I would have gone into diabetic coma if I had eaten half of them. We also got a couple of bottles of wine, and a refrigerator with non-alcoholic drinks provided gratis.

It has a dining table for 8 people, to the side of the living room. The living room has a very large 70" TV wall mounted. The living room has floor to ceiling windows.

A bar, and full kitchen are to the side.

There is a workdesk at the entrance to the living room. The desk is very movable, and no electrical plugs on the desk, only near the floor a few feet away. There a couple of pieces of art in an alcove near the desk.

Indonesian artwork near the desk.

I found the overall effect of the living room quite nice. I had some furniture issues. Even though we were only the second guests in the room, I found scratches and scuffs on some of the wooden furniture. The sofa was a bit low for me, and the green decorative chairs, had odd angle iron feet, which were very easy to trip or hit your feet on.

This part of the unit has a half bathroom.

The bedroom section was a bit smaller than the living room, I think. It has a huge closet (10' x 10', I'd guess). There is a king bed, a 42" TV, and two sofas in the room. Lots, and lots of cabinets in this suite. More cabinets than I've seen in most houses.

They like to give you a cute towel animal on your bed. We got an elephant. Nice quality bed. Surprisingly, no universal electrical outlets near the bed. Also, only standard sized towels in the bathroom. Seems strange considering it's the best suite in the hotel.

Pretty nice bathroom, with separate tub, shower and toilet. Interestingly enough, they had pictures in the toilet cubicle, that included a picture of the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle, that showed the Grand Hyatt in the background.

They have a rainshower head in the shower, and it took me 5 minutes to figure out how to switch from the normal shower to the rainshower.

And here's the other waiting area with sofa in the bedroom.

The Executive lounge was pretty nice. Rotating hot items every night, as well as cold items and snacks. About what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel. The chairs at the lounge desk seem to have been made for little people, as the seats were only 12" or so off the floor. I'm not a tall guy, but they were too low for me.

The property also has shuttles on the weekend to nearby shopping centers. At this point they didn't have a shuttle of their own, so were giving out vouchers for a taxi.

In closing, right now you can often find this hotel at under $100 per night. It's a good solid choice, even if you don't get the presidential suite. It's got a nice Kids Club that is now open, and often has other activities around the pool.

The staff was quite nice, and they certainly made up for the late opening of the Presidential Suite.

Any experiences from HH Gold at this property? I am curious about lounge access and hours and offerings in the lounge. Also, I see a reference to cost for transportation from this property to the airport but I am curious how long? We will be arriving at 1AM early Saturday morning and leaving about 9-10AM on a Saturday Morning.

So Gold's don't receive Exec Lounge access if booking a standard room?

I just made a booking for standard room (~1m IDR) . Don't "need" a suite but wouldn't mind one

Noticed the NOR1 gives a suite rate which is similar to the booking engine (room+nor1), but anything else is very expensive !

Arriving around 7pm on a weekday, understand it takes an hour by taxi from Soekarno–Hatta airport to this hotel ?

Any pointers on what's good for dinner around the area ? Or is the hotel food good enough (worth the convenience ?)

Emailed the hotel about Suite upgrade as Diamond, fingers crossed

The dinner buffet is pretty good. The property is next to the train station. Not much decent in the immediate area.

It's a cheap taxi ride to lots of other stuff, though. $3-5 goes a long way here in a Blue Bird taxi.

I got treated pretty good as a gold last year.

Couldn't get a good feel of the area on Google Maps (any coffee shop / cafe / convenience stores ?)

Will be my 1st time in Jakarta, is the traffic as bad as they say it is ?

Yes, traffic is as bad as they say. Arrival at that time COULD take you an hour to get to hotel. It could also take two, or more Like EVERYTHING Jakarta, nothing is predictable. Not sure when your arrival date is, but it is rainy season. That could add even more time.

The area within walking distance around the hotel is very local. There are good food stalls, and convenience stores. The malls within walking distance, not so great. But a cheap taxi ride away.

I do use uber to get around the city, I find it cheaper than bluebird. However, the drivers for bluebird speak MUCH better English than any uber driver I have had. If I didn't speak a little Bahasa I would have been very lost using uber on more than one occasion.

I think there is a Mcdonalds 300-400 meters away, by the train station. And also a Carrefour supermarket close by.

Traffic can be horrid, but it depends when and where you are going. I've spent 3 hours going 6 km on a Friday evening rush hour. Mon-Fri, morning and evening rush hours are the worst.

Often if you're going the opposite direction, the traffic is fine. Some holidays you can even run into no traffic at all. You can can check out the Waze app to check on traffic.

Thanks for the pointer, I guess public transport in Jakarta is not recommended ?

Just found this new feature on tripadviosr, showing nearby food outlets https://www.tripadvisor.com.my/Resta...arta_Java.html

Apparently the highest rated coffee place https://www.tripadvisor.com.my/Resta...arta_Java.html is just a few minutes walk away ^

Shall update after my stay in 3 weeks times
