The 2x points offer

Hi - I have a 7 night stay coming up in Sydney.

I am currently booked in the Radisson but am trying to ween myself off them to Hilton.

I am Hilton Gold.

If I move my stay to the Hilton will they give me 2x points as per

http://www3.hilton.com/en/offers/100048808.htm

assuming I have registered in advance?

Anythoughts on the 2x deal compared to Radisson's stay three nights get 38,000 points?

Thanks

The 2x points package is a rate that you have to book, there is nothing to register for. If it is available it will be listed with the other rates when you book. The rate is higher than the regular comparable rate for the same room as you paying more for more points. By using the search on that page you link you will find that the Hilton Sydney does not seem to be offering the 2x points package in the near future.

If you are asking will they give you 2x points even if you don't pay the 2x points rate, I believe the answer will be no.

When is the stay?

If all 7 nights are in January then it will qualify for the More Nights, More Points promo. This gives you 4x base points (note that the additional points on the 2x promo are bonus points, so you'd only earn 5x total points).

At USD 367 per night, excluding taxes, and as a gold, you would get:

3670 base per night x 7
3670 bonus per night x 7 (double points rate if available)
11010 bonus per night x 7 (triple promo bonus points)
917.5 bonus per night x 7 (gold member)

1835 bonus per night (points + points earning preference - optional)

This would give you 134873 points for the week, or 147718 if double dipping for more points.

The stay is in January

Thanks for the breakdown. I was not super clear if I needed to do anything to achieve the bonuses given that everything is booked via a corp TA (CWT) - albeit with my HH number on the booking.

Also 130k points = two nights redemption in Sydney Hilton which is not amazing but might be ok when combined with fifth night free I guess

Radison would possibly equate to more though

Decisions :(

You do need to register for the "More Nights, More Points" promotion, here.

As the double points rate doesn't seem to be available, you'll get 25,690 fewer points than the above (basically 243 points for each AUD of your tax-inclusive room rate, assuming 10% GST is the only tax applicable, and today's exchange rate).

I've always had points for my CWT-booked stays.

In any event, you might only get 2 nights free in Sydney but with 120k points you'd have enough for 15 nights free in the DoubleTree Kuala Lumpur (or 30 nights in the Hampton Inn Newport if you're desperate).

Unless the hotel has opted out of the current quarterly promotion

It has, hasn't it?

The only places we really need to stay are AMS + SYD

Thanks though
