Conrad: With our compliments....
 

Any idea how this works? Am intending to stay 5 nights at the Tokyo Conrad shortly and a dummy booking shows up as the full 5 night amount. Do they knock a night off the bill later?

It's an advance payment booking, i.e. they take the full amount at booking so am slightly confused.

The 5th night free is ONLY for STANDARD AWARD bookings. Paid bookings do NOT get this discount. The price quoted is the price you pay.

The special offer from Conrad has to be booked via the special link they give you or using the code they give you. You'll see listed "with our compliments" rate listed and have to book THIS rate. If you are NOT booking with this link/special offer listed, you do NOT get the 5th night free. The price offered reflects the 5th night free discount and is often usually HIGHER than the best available price.

Always comparison shop of the various rates available including AAA which is usually refundable.

Thanks, but I must still be missing something. The easy cancellation ie standard rate per night is Y34k and the stay total is Y202k. As is the advertised 'With our Compliments' rate. But the latter comes with a penalty of committing through advance payment. So where's the advantage?

I followed the correct links in making the dummy bookings. There are no special codes as far as I can see.

No advantage to booking the "With our Compliments" rate.

You are assuming that the 5th night free is off the lowest rate. It is NOT. It is off a rate that they chose and is not necessarily the cheapest or most flexible option you can find.

You should always compare the different rates available. A free night offer can be much more expensive than the BAR.

OP, I took the time to try to duplicate what you are seeing. Indeed, it does seem that NO credit is given for the "free" night as it shows the exact same nightly rate multiplied by five to give the exact same total rate. Contrary to what travelinfoo is telling you, this does NOT seem to be a situation of the four nights being inflated at a rate equal to or higher than the cost of the five nights without the promotion. I would suggest contacting either the property or Hilton Reservations to inquire further.

To clarify I contacted the hotel and after some fluffing around received the following, which does indeed provide the info I sought:

Stay plan: With our compliments
Special benefit: Final night is complimentary
Condition: Minimum stay 4 nights and non refundable credit card deposit of 1st night upon booking

Please note that the final night will be subtracted from the guest folio at check out, so that you are not able to see the discounted rate in advance.
