Let's see...500,000 HHonors points would have covered nearly 3/4 of a single night at the Sydney Hilton in August when I was last trying to stay there...oh wait, that's for the HHonors failure thread...

I'd try to be economical about my use of the points, i.e. look for someplace you would already want to travel or have planned to travel. If you invest thousands of dollars in airfare to use the miles, the overall impact is lessened. However, if you can use them nearby or with a planned trip, it'll make your money stretch further!

I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.

Oh wait, that's the wrong question.

What would you do with 5 Million plus HHonors points?

But wouldn't this have to be recorded as imputed income if it's being offered as a bonus?

True, but probably just a fuzzy area since the intent is that it's being offered in lieu of a monetary bonus.

By how much it would have cost to make the same booking with cash.

I don't know how it's going to actually happen, but since the Hhonors account is personal, I think it will be viewed as a personal gift from him. Which has $14,000 per person annual exemption before you have to claim it on your taxes.
