Renewed Diamond

Staying at the LAX Hilton tonight, and it will put me into Diamond for next year on both nights and stays. A bit bittersweet--happy to renew, but wish it were in December. Just means I've been on the road too much.

Who else has renewed already?

Yup, hit that $40K spend with Citibank this month, so Diamond will renew. Comes too early; I'm spending too much too fast...I feel your pain.

Hit 60 Hilton nights (with family) last week. And apparently re-qualed for Marriott Gold too (UA partnership).

You get it as soon as it posts, but it's good for the remainder of the year (2013 in this case) and all of the following year.

So why are people wishing it was in December?

Surely it makes no difference if you're already diamond? Bit confused. I'm going to make diamond soon, I'll get it for the rest of 2013 and all 2014 then? If I'm already diamond and I renew that in, say, July 2014, I get it for 2015 too...what difference does it make if that occurs in July or December?

Misallocation of spend. If stays done elsewhere or different card used, qualification in another program may have been possible or points may have gone to a different program.

As for me, I am looking at November this year.

Pretty sure that's very clearly spelled out in the first post

Just means I've been on the road too much.
I'd take a stab at and say that the OP feels that instead of meeting the night and stays requirement in the middle of the year, they feel it would be better if those same nights and stays were spread out over the entire year, as that way they would have been home more.

That's what I'm guessing they meant when they said they have been on the road too much.

Well that too. My worst was 144 nights. Definitely too much.

Exactly. I like the benefits and comforts it affords me, but it also is an indicator of how much I'm away from my home and family. It's bittersweet each year when I renew for this reason.
